I am changing my oil pump out and was wondering what the benifits of a high velocity pump are. Is running higher oil pressure increase or decrease performance at all?
Thanks....

There is a difference between high volume and high pressure pumps. High pressure means leaks, high volume means bigger oil pan.On chevys the high pressure helps me more by keeping the mains wetter but does seem to load crank with oil.make sure you use a crank wiper and it should not hurt perf.

Go with the high volume pump always. dont use high pressure. rule of thumb is 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM. too much oil pressure uses HP to run the pump and also puts more load on the cam and drive. also too much oil pressure can wash past the bearings.
