Got ski-rope sucked into jet to the point where my engine won't turn over. Had to get towed in, that sucked..
What do I do about it, my knowledge is limited.

Dyke the rope out thru the handhole cover, or use a good fillet knife as dad & I did once (95' of rope).

Razor knife and a few new blades along with a nice pair of dikes. Dikes like diagonal cutters.
Mine sucked up a diaper. Yea my day got Sh!tteer I had to power wash it out from the nozel side.

A razor sharp knife with a short flexible blade will help to cut out pieces that are jammed on top of the shaft. I spent a couple hours on mine, and when I rebuilt the pump a month later there was still a small piece jammed up there. :yuk:
We are VERY careful not to run over the rope these days!!

Sounds like a good idea but how do you turn the motor backwards?
Go easy on me, I'm only 8 mos. in to this boating stuff.

W/ a ratchet on the crank bolt...and he was talking about the spark plugs. That makes it fairly easy to turn the engine over by hand.

Some bellhousings have a cut out above the flywheel/ring gear so you can use a pry bar, or as mentioned with the spark plugs out there is very little resistance and hopefully the bolt won't come loose. If it does, see above about the cut out............MP
