Looking to purchase an HTM sr24. I have looked at several and have narrowed it down to two of them in my price range. Before I Make an offer or purchase I have been trying to get a quote on insurance. Spoke with several agents and brokers and as of yet I havent been able to find anyone to quote me, I have been in contact with Markel and they directed me to a broker in my home state and Im going on a week now waiting for a quote. One of the boats is a 00 with a 502 mag, about 70mph, the second also a 00 and has a 502 mag with a whipple, about 85mph. I have a clean license and have been boating for 18 years, but its my first cat. Anyone want my business?

Should have sold the last kid. You've had them the least amount of time and aren't attached to them as much. You can thank Homer Simpson for that logic. :D :D :D

I second, third and forth this. Word is there's gonna be a few new players in the cat market. Shawn was at a meeting today on this very matter. Maybe the insurance god can enlighten (SP) us on this. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe someone else will give Markel some comp. Think about this: yes a cat goes way faster. But what would you rather insure, my CC with 17 people on it this weekend in Havasu, or my cat with 4 people in it. My CC policy is 5 times the coverage with no loop holes, and my Cat policy 5 times more money and the contract has more holes then Swiss chesse. My CC policy has no lay up, Cat policy 6 months. Seems like a no brainer to me!!!

I have an '03 SR24 that I originally insured with a 496ho and it was ~$675.00 . last year I put a peto 650hp motor in it and my agent was only concerned about the cost of the motor for replacement. He stated the speed was not an issue. Now I have everything I own insured with him and have a clean record, if that matters. It only went up 200.00
(american family)

He also wrote my Toter Home policy. Easy to work with, to the point. "heres your policy write me a check" not three weeks of qoutes like others.

I had American Family also and then they cancelled me because they said they didn't cover boats that went over 70mph. The hull wasn't the issue, the speed was.
