LOS ANGELES - Authorities are investigating a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in Agoura Hills. Images
Two people were killed when the Ferrari crashed on Cornell Road near Mulholland Drive, according to the sheriff's department. The vehicle landed on its roof, about 20 feet from the two-lane road, in a front yard.
Authorities said the car might have hit a pole.
Witnesses said the Ferrari Testarossa was traveling at a very high rate of speed just before the crash, NBC 4 reported.
Cornell Road was closed during the investigation. Authorities received the report at about 4 p.m.

I read one of the deceased might be an off-duty CHP officer. We'll see more in the morning, I'm sure...Oh, and the car ended up in the yard of former actress Morgan Brittany... I haven't heard her name in ages..
I guess it goes to show that driving like a maniac on public roads, even in a race-inspired car like a Testarossa, is a dangerous thing to do no matter who you are...

Gotta go with ROZ on the 308/328 being the budget Ferrari's.. the cheapest I see for an almost 20 year old Testarossa is 32K and rising for a Canadian 1987 Testy for sale on eBay... looks like most are still in the 50k range even though they are usually 10-15 years old..
It's truly too bad the people inside forgot that the trees that line our roadways are undefeated this year in car vs. tree crashes.. I feel for the families, but if you push the edge the recovery zone gets slim and these things happen... cars, boats, planes, bikes..they all have a zone of no return. Hell, I almost got whacked by a chick in a Protege' today while towing at the 15/210 interchange.. she hadda been dooin 100+ as she swooped behind my trailer and cut between me and a guy in a V-dub... I saw his face, he was pissed, too. Maybe I am getting old at 39, but I just don't seem to be in a hurry anymore. Too much to live for at home...

i use my countach to tow my cigarette boat with a forward radar arch...
i dunno why, but i saw a testarossa on the freeway the other day, and all i could think of was blue and pink neon lights, corny music, big hair and a white suit with a pink shirt and chest hair coming out the front of the collar. oh yeah, dont forget chicks with over-obvious tan lines and hairy muffs.... i was laughing so hard as this dude drove by that i almost wrecked my truck, i was propably speeding too :rollside: :) :rollside:
i think for that price i would rather buy a brand new corvette. or even a beamer M3... i dunno, but i guess thats what makes this world fun

Not me.. I'd buy a 71-73 911(very light cars), gut it , install 2 racing seats and a roll bar, and throw in a modified 3.2 turbo drivetrain.. Talk about a rocket :D

Yep, off-duty (obviously) Chippy out of West Valley office, Woodland Hills.
Story is, his brother or friend was visiting from back east. The rumor is, the friend or brother was driving - and clearly screwed things up.

Here's the story according to NBC:
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - One of two men killed when a Ferrari Testarossa crashed and overturned near Agoura Hills was a California Highway Patrol officer who owned the sports car, authorities confirmed today. Images | Video
The 1993 Ferrari crashed at 3434 Cornell Road, near Mulholland Drive, at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Derek Midollo, 39, and his passenger, David Bjorklund, in his 30s, died at the scene, said CHP Officer Leland Tang.
Bjorklund was a friend of Midollo's who was visiting from Chicago, Tang said.
Midollo, an 11-year veteran of the CHP, was assigned to the West Valley Area office.
"It is a huge, huge loss for us," Tang said. "All 100 officers here at the West Valley office are mourning the loss of Officer Midollo."
Tang said the preliminary investigation indicated that the Ferrari, "for unknown reasons, veered to the left and hit a telephone pole."
Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Phil Brooks told the Los Angeles Times Tuesday that the Ferrari may have been traveling at high speed when the off- duty CHP officer lost control.
The car "came off the corner and went into the air and hit a pole and rocks before flipping upside down," Brooks said.
The mangled silver sports car came to rest on its roof in a corral several yards from the road.
Actress Morgan Brittany, who owns the corral, heard the crash.
