I had a Spectra 19 and went through a full overhaul two times. Do yourself a big favor and find a 454 Chevy. You will save alot of time and money in the long run.If money is a big issue go to the truck pic a part and buy a complete engine for around $500.00 They are usually sound becouse a truck is not driven at the Rpm's of a boat. Overhaul parts for the Old's also cost much more than Chevy ones

I'm with Bill.Your story should read:"Trying to save money, looking for a 454 Chevy".If there was ever a motor that did not belong in a boat it would have to be the 455 Oldsmobile.Lets see if we can get 3 good stories about a 455 in a boat.Ready go.

Let's be honest. I don't think anyone can be happy with an Old's in there boat. Some times you can love the boat but hate the performance. I sold my Spectra for that reason and wish I still had it. Go with the Chevy or I'm afraid it won't be long till you spin your crank bearings. They just don't hold up.

I agree with Bill, dump the Olds and go with the Chevy. If you need motor mounts & logs call JIm Brock @ 818-890-1867 he has a ton of that stuff.
