How much oil?

This is on a Littlefield 871. The only plug is on the front, and its the spring loaded vent. Should I fill it up to there? This plug is near the top of the plate. What weight oil should I use and whats the best method for getting it out of there? :confused:

On a Weiand there is a fill plug and the level is set by removing one of the cover bolts and filling until it runs out of the bolt hole. The cover bolt is well below the fill, if I remember correctly it's the first one up from the bottom. Don't over fill it! Check Holly's site for a cut sheet and confirm the Littlefield is the same.

On my Littlefield, there is a triangular cover held in place by 3 screws. Remove the bottom screw, and fill the gear case until oil comes out of that hole.
