Busted my Trans Case on my 05 F250 while offroad. The dealer wants $2,700 for a new one...
Anybody know of a good tig welder in the AV or Santa Clarita area??

No problem. Were just numbers dug up using the on-line phone directory. Hopefully one of those places will hook you up.

Hey Willie,
Well, we were gonna spend the night or two out at Dove Springs, but with no camper, we'll just be going up for the day now on Monday.
I just need to get it fixed before the Havasu run in coming up and the beach campout after that in July.
Whatcha doin Saturday night?? I'm gonna get the UFC fight on PPV on the big screen and kick it with a few brews if your interested. That goes for any other buds out there that may have a free night to watch some blood and guts!! Give me a call if you wanna stop by. :crossx:

Thought about that. I haven't had a minute to crawl under there yet and get the size of the crack/damage. If it is not to bad, I may try that first and just keep an eye on it for a while.
I've been asking around for peoples experience with that product and so afr the response has been that it works good.
I would REALLY hate to get stuck out on the road to Havazoo with the camper/boat and a load of kids in the truck.
How ya been Jeff?? or should I say KidPunchy!!! :yuk: LOL!

I know it isn't anywhere near palmdale but the best welder I know is in Long Beach. His name Roger Sanderson and his company is Pipeworks Fabrication. He is located right off of the 710 freeway and Anaheim. He may be able to weld it together right on the truck!!! The guy does some amazing work and I've seen him fix stuff when everyone else said NO. I'll get you his number in the morning! Or you can call 411 for Pipeworks Fab. Good luck. P.S. how did you break the transfer case????? I have an 05 as well and have done pretty extreme shite in it and couldn't see having the transfer case break that easily.

The transfer case broke on my buddies f250 and you could hear the thing hitting the floor. The thing was not lifted the right way and the front drive line bound up and broke the case.
I have a TIG machine and would be willing to check it out ....I just finished welding up my bellhousing on my boat, previous owner lost a bolt through the hole and it went around the flywheel and really let it have it...would have bought a new one but I was able to fix it.

Thanks for the offers and info everyone. I'm gonna see what I can do tomorrow and if I need some mfurther help, I'll give you guys a shout. It doesn;t look very bad after I got a good look at it myself.
F'n dealer, AV FORD wanted $2,700 for a little vrack on the bottom of the Transmission (they had listed it as trans case, which is why I thought it was the transfer case). I should be able to fixer up.

Oh you know it!! when I get ready to clean the surface prior to welding, I ALWAYS USE A HALF A CAN OF THRUST STARTED FLUID AT LEAST! It really works good if the exhaust is still hot, the flames and heat really help to prep the area!!
It's hard to beat starter fluid and duct tape for results! :rollside:
