I really want to sell my house and get out of So cal. My wife has no intention of leaving because her family is here. I've been trying to convince her that it'd be a good move because she wouldn't have to work. She still is hesitating because our youngest is just finishing her freshman year of high school and she doesn't want to relocate her to a different school. I know that if we sell we could pay off everything (cars, boat, and credit cards) and be able to start fresh in LHC with no bills except rent. I don't think that I'd have enough to put down on a house unless we got rid of one of the cars (which I'm willing to do). My question is, is there enough work in LHC for me? I've been in the automotive industry for 18 years now as a technician. I've achieved ASE master status (which means I know how to take tests). I've got experience in Porsche, BMW, and GM at a dealership level. I've even owned my own shop for a few years restoring classic cars, but I'm done wrecking my body. Is there anything available that I could get into sales or something less physical? I don't know, I've just been thinking that I could convince her somehow. Less stress and being able to do what we like to do on the weekends are what I'm looking for (enjoying life for a change). It's like we've made a boat payment all year long and we'll be able to use it for maybe 4 weeks this summer. Seems like a waste to me when we have the toys and we can't even enjoy them. Sorry for the rant, but I just wanted some opinions from folks that have the same interests in mind

PM the wife and we can put you in touch with a few people who have kids that age...
The wife was worried about leaving the family.
We pulled the plug 6 months ago and the wife has never looked back, EXCEPT FOR A MALL

There's also Kingman. Several dealers there too. We agree with the Kilrs and Shadow, love it!

Smart thinking! I'm trying to do the same thing. Debt is a slavemaster that is hard to escape from.

Call some headhunters and let them find you a job. We are planning to move to Surprise, AZ in a few years when my daughter graduates from high school. I have had numerous leads on work in the Phoenix area and have already received a tentative offer there.

Not to be rude or anything, but if all you people from cali keep moving in to az, az will just be another cali, with all your stupid laws. Yes I know what your thinking right now but, And I'm hoping you guy's are the better folks in cali moving out, kind of like me, I want out of ohio, cuz of all the a-hole who run this state are bring it down. So don't take this the wrong way. But just think about that for a min.

I have a house in Havi that I rent out and I live in Minden NV. I just got back from Havi with over a 6 week stay in Havasu. While I was in Havi I wanted to find some fun work to do while I was in town. It was easy I was a bartender at 2 different places. I had some fun and met some cool people.
While I was in town you see the people that have... and the have nots... I think if you move to that town you may not spend much money on gas driving around because everything is close. But you might spend more on boat gas. It's a fun place to be and a great place to go boating. Food will cost you more.
Can you make money in business?? I think so.... But the question is what works for you? What works for your wife and kids. Why would you move there in the first place.
Is your why greater than the obstacles that you may have to over come in any type of change.
Change is a hard thing to do.
Good Luck

As long as you people from Ohio don't move here we should be OK. :D

People have been leaving Ohio for the past 20 years. I can't believe anyone is left there. That used to be the big joke because everyone you met was from Ohio.
I am not familiar with the job market in Havasu. That whole Mohave County has been in a growth mode. Obviously it depends on what kind of industry you are in and what kind of job you want. I also wonder how it is in the winter time? Certain business does well in the summer but not so good in the winter. Seems that dealerships would do good year round, but again, I don't know.
I left So Ca 6 years ago and moved to Phoenix. Not the same as Havasu, but it was the best move I ever made. I used to commute from Alta Loma to Lake View Terrace every day. Little over and hour in the morning and three hours in the evening. Now I drive ten minutes each way.
Good luck. Go with your instincts. Talking with people that live there is a good start.
