I'm looking for a mini tunnel to work on over the winter. Some think like the old Baja Scat cat 12'
so if any one knows of one I'm looking.
Thanks wink

Hey something we have in common. I would also love to find a mini tunnel boat. I am looking for one of the old Mod-C mini boats. They look like the old school champ boats (no capsule) except they are about 10' - 12' long and use to race with production 40 horse O/B's on them. Anyone know where I could pick on up?

I have been looking for Good web sites to try to find one or any info. www.boattraderonline.com (http://www.boattraderonline.com) has a cuppel but I havent got ahold of any one yet. Have you try a search on boat trader under like 8' to 14' cat or tunnel?
This is what I'm looking for at http://www.wranglerboats.com/ then I want to paint it the same as my Howard cat.
Let my know if you find any thing.
Later wink :)

Hay Havasu Dreaminn Did you check out Wrangler boats there in Ohio I called them yesterday he has two in stock. :) Yeah, I looked at them, they are pretty cool, but a little too much money for what I want to do. Plus they are a little bigger and heavier than the old Mod C mini boats. I would be willing to spend say $500 - $1000 for the right boat, but I am just going to keep my eyes peeled and see what happens. Late

I know it's not a tunnel hull, but Sharky marine has a 12' v-bottom. He's done some pretty incredible things with it-like 12' of air!

I have been following this site because I bought a Baja scat cat (designed by Molinari FYI) w/a 25 Johnson for my son a couple years ago.He and his friends think it's the catz ass.I spent some time getting the balance where it should be,dialed in motor height and trim angle, and with just him (13 years & 110 lbs.)it goes 32 mph.I also had the prop reworked a couple times till it was right. It looks like a mini Skater at speed(((WAY KOOL)He does have to lean on the bow a little to hook it up but do you want the big number or do you want the kid in the Whaler in front? (THOT SO).These and other mini cats were big sellers 1985-1990.The V-bottom crowd had Mini Hawks that are pretty cool as well. Many companies made a version of either or both during that time.If your interested in these type of boats I come across them now and then and could hook you up. The rub is that I'm on the east coast and getting delivery to the left coast could pricey. I know for a fact that Sanger made a mini cat bcuz a friend of mine had one.You guys should contact the older boat companies (Hondo,Sanger,Rayson Craft,ETC)and ask if they have a mold that fits the bill. I'll bet a lot of these places do and a little begging, some cash, and during the slow season you could have a brandy new one.FYI I do know where a Bartel mini cat is for sale but I couldn't give any details until after this wknd bcuz I saw it on the fly coming home last wknd. Feel free to pick my nautical brain tho........VELOCITY BOATS RULE!!!!!!

Yes I go by there every wknd on my way to the lake.I will stop and get the ##'s 4 u. What type of hull is that mini from canada? V or cat or? I'm impressed that he built it himself and that top end is 38!!(He wouldn't be jivin us???38 with a stock 25 is unreal!) Tell me about THE SETUP......VELOCITY BOATS RULE!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the props... ya it's 38 for real. now that's speedo mind you. the hull is a mod vp. the hull came from a bathtub boat mold and then i stretched it and added some freeboard. from there up the deck is all plywood with mat and resin and tons of bondo to get it straight and smooth. it would go faster for sure but i made it TOO heavy. but i wanted it to last so my kids can play with it when they get older. it was a lot of work but well worth the effort. there are more pics of it in the readers rides section. the secret to the speed is that i installed a power trim pump and ram on the 25. that allows me to really float the nose. with the 18 chopper on it i have get on the bow to get it to plane... but when it hooks up it really moves. i really have to over trim that prop to get the revs up as i do not have a transom jack (working on that)hence the large rooster tail. not very efficient but looks cool. this amount of trim really floats the nose and you can feel how loose it is. any kind of boat wake and you are sent airborn (with big smiles). i have to say though that it really handles well and corners on a dime. it has a bad porpoise under 30 mph but i am told that is what you get with a mod vp hull. the battery and gas tank all all in the back under the sunpad.

HEY NAUGHTY, OK I believe you. Do you eat water pump kits with that much trim? How the hell do you get that big of a prop on that shaft? You may want to try a chopper w/some cup to carry the bow and the trim to "normal" settings. Nice rig. It almost makes you wish we were our fathers kids....(Son,12 Starcraft w/10hp or mod vp....DUH!!!) VELOCITY BOATS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would prefer a mini 4 seater! Are any of these models you guys talking about 4 seaters?
Also post pictures!
WW wink

i usually don't have to give it that much trim. if i use the stock 13 pitch aluminum prop it does 32-35 depending on conditions (3-4 inch chop is best, into wind to carry bow) to get best speed with the chopper i trim it so that to rooster is about 54-5 feet high. anything over that and it's just for show.

oh ya, the prop is a direct fit. it's an over the hub design and i believe it is from merc. i got it given to me.

WW  I think Hawaiian makes a little 17' tunnel, I was looking at it a couple years back, thought it would be kinda fun to play with. It looked neat, just like the big ones, I think they could lay one up for you if you asked, they should still have the mold. Good luck.
