gonna go to a double pumper on my 400hp 454 and soon to be 150hp shot of nos, what size carb do you guys think i should buy?

850 or at least a well worked over 750 that will flow around 800. Should work well with your lower HP mill off the juice.

That carb would be very adequate for what you're trying to do IMO. But, you may consider an 850 ,so that you have a workable piece for any future engine uprades. my.02

that sounds smart, but what will i have to do to the 850 to make it work with what i have now?

Carbs never run right out of the box. You might think they do but there is much more to be found if they are calibrated correctly for your application.
