Didn't you just buy that thing?
Give it a summer of trouble free boating (hopefully) before going nuts!!!
Nice Ride, BTW.

Dude, don't do anything to that thing! Sell it and get the boat you want!

"Cave " good to see you out there and meet you .I was checking out the videos you have of 396 and yourself . You need to bring the camera out and shoot some more videos. I know me and the boys will give you footage to shoot. :)

Awe I had it today. Next time for sure. There should be more jets out too. Mike & Tyro, well maybe Tyro and the rest of the east side jet boaters. Cant wait!
It was cool to put a face to the screen name. Good people. Lots of sun & fun. I hope the cam I ordered comes in this week. I too want to go faster. At least be able to jump from wave to wave when it gets rough. :D

Be careful. 10 mph will cost you 5-7k. Then more to fix what breaks after your upgrades. Plus you need a good tow rope until you work out the bugs.
Stick with your reliable TURNKEY 502.
At least wait til after the summer is over.
You didn't say how fast you are going now, or at what rpm.

On that hull, the most cost effective way to go faster will be to call Jeff Bennett and have the bottom done. Lengthening those strakes will go a long way towards making her faster with the HP you have. For reference; RevnDave's old 19' Caribbean (same hull) with around 1000 HP went just under 100. Hack Job's 19' Spectra with 735 hp went 90 with no hardware tuning. At the time Hacker was putting his boat together, Jeff said something to the effect that doing the bottom would be worth upwards of 10mph at the hp/speed level Tyson was at.
I agree with your buddy, if you're going to keep it, then do whatcha want to make it faster. If you're still looking 21' daytona; just enjoy the boat as it is and wait for the right Daytona/sale price on your current ride combo. You can build a 700hp+ mill by talking to Cyclone about a good proven recipe for a single carb'd 502. He had that setup in his Rogers based on a Chevy ZZ502.
For what it's worth, if you like how the boat rides right now, you can rework your power plant and do your bottom for much less than the difference between something as nice as your 19 and an equally clean 21 daytona with the newer deck.
