I just found out my motor builder may not finish rebuilding my motor until sometime after summer. That is not acceptable as I'm sure you guys can understand. Does anybody have a line on a motor that is in excellent condition that makes around 1,000 hp on pump gas that is for sale? Thanks for any leads. KZ

Robbie,
Where are you located and do you have any of the dressing; blower, exhaust manifolds, carbs, EFI, or do you need turnkey?

if you have all the stuff i know a guy that would put it together in about 2 days.he does a lot of stuff for clay smith, his own motor makes about 1350hp.

I'm located in the SF bay area but will drive just about anywhere in the western U.S. to pick up a new motor. I pretty much need a turnkey set up. I want to keep the present motor intact so that I can dyno it when he finishes it, so I need to keep the 1471 blower and carbs on it. I do have Lightening headers that can be used on the new motor along with all the "marine" stuff. The current motor is a 598" BBC. Thank you for the reply.

Robbie,
Gary Teague has a freshened, just dyno'd, Whippled, innercooled, completely dressed motor, but only 850 hp. If you can use it call Gary at (909) 982-8391. Lots of polish, Imco accessories, single carb, etc...

Thanks guys. That is great info. I called Gary and it sounds like he has a good motor but I would like more power if I can get it. I also talked to Blosdale and he has a great deal on his 581 ci now with 1,000 hp for $26,000 complete. The only problem there is the 6 week lead time. I also talked to Larry Peto and he has a rebuilt 580" Bowtie (with new block) with a 1071 on it that makes 960 hp at 6,000 rpm at 5.5 lbs of boost. A customer stepped up to a huge boat and now has two of these for sale and one is ready to go for $25,000. That may work if I can't find anything else "on the shelf". Thanks again for your help. It is much appreciated.

Thanks Boatnam2 for the info on Boostpower. I had not heard of them. I checked out their web site and they do have a good selection but are out of my price range for a second engine. They want $43,000 for a blown carburated 572" with 1,000 hp.

Call Alexi at Boostpower and tell him Huddy said to call - I am sure he can make you a much better deal if you call and actually speak to Him. His shop and motors are SICK!!!

Smart Money thanks for the contact at Boostpower but I already made the deal for the rebuilt 581 with Larry.
mister460, I wish that I could afford it too but had to take a loan until I sell my drag motor to pay it off.
Thanks guys for your suggestions. I looks like my summer boating season is now back on track.
