Just got back from Lake Mojave this weekend, stayed at the Ramada Express, parked in their "secure, attended boat parking lot" well, some
low-life scumbag decided to jack my stereo amps out of my boat right across from where the security guard told me he parks at night !? Of course the damage done ripping out the amps was extensive, with holes in the upholstery thrown in for good measure ! Just passing this along FYI.

Bastards, the security guard probably called his tweaker buddies to come over and rip the stuff off. Sorry to hear that man.

Sorry Bud! I had a few problems at the Ramada a number of years ago. When I do need a hotel in Laughlin and have a boat, I ALWAYS stay at the Pioneer. Their security is great. They have specific boat parking near Casino Drive. The security guards drive around on a cart 24/7. At night they park under the trees in the back parking area. A number of times, I've been out in the parking area at the boat and they've come over to me and confirm it's my boat. NEVER had any problems of loosing stuff while at the Pioneer.

That sucks, I know the feeling because mine was stolen in Bullhead just across the river from where you were just 2 weeks ago. Probably the same guys. Hopefully you have insurance and made a police report.
I have Progressive and I must say they have been great!
$1900 in stereo equipment---- check sent to me in a week
$1600 for new carpet from the the theives cigerette that burned a hole in my carpet and minor interior damage--------another check sent in a week
$900 for wakeboards--------same thing
I thought my boat was very safe in a gated condo complex but it wasnt.
I feel your pain my brother!

This makes me wonder. With high dollar systems there for the taking, does anyone run a motion alarm?
I figure a motion alarm set to go off if anyone climbs aboard should work.
Are there any good ones out there?

Not really. There seems to be "Tweakers" that rent rooms on the back side right next to the pool. Easy in / out for sales. On site manager stays close to the front desk at night. I caught a dude "eyeing" my boat one night. We had a nice discussion. Didn't have to call LE.

I stay at the Ramada for years and have never had a problem. Sorry it happened to you.
I stayed a few weeks ago at the Edgewater and they have secure, guarded, gated parking about two blocks away in the employee parking lot. Works well there as well.
I think you can always get ripped off, wherever you go. It does suck though and you feel so violated!

That sucks!! I had some stuff taken from mine about 3 years ago at london bridge hotel. They unsnapped the cover and sat underneath jacking everything, i guess with the cover still on no one would see them.
I also stay at Island Inn, mater of fact will be there in a few weeks, guess I will put boat back in storage every night. Probably be the best way to keep it safe.

The island inn had a hit last night. We were lucky and cleaned the boat and put it away after we were done on the lake yesterday. 5 boats got there stereo's stolen. :yuk:

I was talking more like an automotive motion sensor. An alarm that would go off when the boat is moved. Like when someone climbs on.
An alarm going off just because someone walks by is probably a bit extreme.
I for one like to walk up to really nice boats to admire the bling.

I think the idea with those is to mount them inside the boat so nothing will get stolen. If someone gets on the boat, or tries to move it, the motion should set the thing off. I just ordered two of them. Thanks for the info. Got my Suburban tire slashed the other night. I usually keep the boat out front on the weekends. I hate to think what could have happened if it were out their the other night.

Someone had a good idea of putting the boat back in storage every night ( if you have that) but its a pain in ass. But then again so is someone yanking your stuff. I might check into the motion sensor mounted inside the boat like near the stereo that they wouldnt see by checking out the boat 1st.
It just sucks that we have to even go to these measures to keep some f*ckers out of our boats!
Get a JOB like the rest of us
Im just afraid they are going to case my condo place for my boat all the time.

The one thing i forgot to mention earlier is that when i got ripped off the le told me never to cover your boat because the tweekers get under it and no one can see them working so even when i park in the driveway at nite [usualy garaged] i dont cvr it. Were your boats covered when violated?

Any automotive alarm will work . I have just a low dollar Bulldog and it will chirp at you if your too close to the boat. Then if you try to get in or move the boat in anyway it alarms. I still sleep with one ear open . It would really be enjoying to catch the little bastards.

So what can we do to secure our boats at these hotels we stay at ? It seems that as soon as a nice boat pulls into town, these people go into action and we suffer...hotel security is a joke, Law enforcement is re-active,
what is left ? Not patronize these towns / hotels ? I want to relax when on vacation, not stay up all night worrying.

I agree, but as long as you have insurance there is no need to worry. I always put the cover on at night no matter which hotel we stay at. Material things can always be replaced, but your family/friends cannot. Safety is number one. Who cares what the thief takes..as long as it is not your life!

I'll have to second that! When I stayed there they confirmed from me that I was the owner by wanting to see the keys that worked on the truck attached etc etc... They also got my cell # incase someone was messing with it so they could call me for an emergency. When I came out they were camped out behind the boats or on patrol very near bye...
Plus they have some rooms that they'll allow you to bring your dog with you.
