Just a note, due to the 4th of July being the following Tuesday,
the police will be in FULL FORCE. I would have to comment that
this is NOT the best weekend to run these boats through the
channel. Also with the holiday weekend, the water will be junk, a little
cruise could be really uncomfortable.

a holiday weekend with a flatbottom at Havasu is a great way to donate your boat to fish habatat. In 1988 on a holiday weekend it only cost 500 bucks to get my boat pulled out. And it was still bobbing nose up. I wonder what the price tag is up to now?
It all happened because they kicked me out of the channel because my boat idled to fast and did not have a working netural.
A jet boat might get by but something like a cole or hondo flatbottom. forgetaboutit

All that is understood. Anyone that does'nt want to deal with it should not sign up! For the rest of us it looks like we will have a good number of old school boats in HAVASU in the CHANNEL on a HOLIDAY weekend! How often do you see a bunch of jets and v-drives together in Havasu? NEVER!

Actually for us flat bottoms HELL NO! LOL! Us real boaters need to hit the water early enough so we can hopefully gets some spots in the channel fairly close together. I'll be launching at 5:30 eating breakfast, hopefully getting a good hour of flat run time and be ready to head into the channel at 7:30.

Taking a show piece to Havasu and risking the rough stuff and drunk dudes in 30' boats is not a smart move. I know I would not take mine out there. It is simply not for smaller boats now. Just my $.02

I have stopped by a few times on the way to california and never seen any v-=drives or jets there by that bridge, but would like to see some, i will be thru on friday the june 30th, and could stay to see the way yall doit but it would put me a day behind. . . Though it might be worth it !!!!

I can tell you, you will not get a lot of the big dog and nice V-Drives to bite. These dudes dump more cash in their V-Drives than most 30+' boats are worth. Taking a show piece to Havasu and risking the rough stuff and drunk dudes in 30' boats is not a smart move. I know I would not take mine out there. It is simply not for smaller boats now. Just my $.02

Everytime I've cruised the channel in my flat all I get are thumbs up from everybody (except the cops :cry: ).
Its just like cruising a tubbed camero, lots of people dig them but they just don't have that "died in the wool" hot rodder blood flowing through them that some of us were born with or they possibly may be intimidated by the death defying ride or mechanical aptitute required to keep them ticking.
Another factor is comfort... a lot of guys feel obligated to maintain a certain level of comfort for their themselves, wifes, kids and or friends. "We" on the other hand willingly and happily trade comfort and passenger room to selfishly satisfy our thirst for "overpowered light weight" and compairably uncomfortable adrenaline rushes.
Then theres the guys who have one of each, (like Dave Rankin) that can't be all bad! :cool:
