those fellas are riding at the edge at open 130 plus.I respect them but they are really taking a chance, like the yellow one. They schould have a capsule.A few of them can run 130 + @ 8500 rpm all day long. Those are well built mercs and make almost 500hp. I would like to see their build sheet. All day long is another thing I am curious about. What do you guys think? I have a lot of friends in th OB that refuse to run long time.

The guys that ran for speed in this video dont run like that all day long. These motors are around 350 - 375 hp with shots of nitrous after that at 50,75 extra HP.They run speed master gearcases like you see on the F-1 boats.A sportmaster case is only good to 130.These guys are running bad when they only hit 130.I have seen them run 138,141,143,+.
There are a several guys in the Florida keys that run their boats every weekend and run 125's regularly. Not all day long.Thats just a figure of speach. They might put around 3-5 hours of actual running time per day burning all of the 30 gallons they hold and then some dumped in from the race can back at the ramp to finish the day right.

thanks for clearing that up. I thought they were doing some type of enduro run. Do you follow the tunnel boat circuit? Are these boats in Fla, etc. faster than the capsule boats? The STV's and other OB tunnels seem to have a hull bottom similar to my jet. If you look at the OB capsule race boats. These look like a traditional hydro plane. Am I correct? Just trying to learn, Thanks,DEL

Simular but not the same as a F-1 or capsule race boat. These boats are mod-v's wich meens they have a center pod. This helped back in the day when there was MOD-VP races all over the country.A little more stable as well. The boats you see with the capsules in the F-1 races are true tunnells/no center pod.
