I got a rapid hitch for Christmas and I am wondering if it is a feesible idea for a step to be used in place of the ball when I am not towing. I think it would be good for lifted trucks.
Is there also a lock available for the slide piece that holds the ball.

So are you asking if you can use a step that engages the "teeth"

I'm thinking he wants the exact same setup as what's in the picture, except instead of having 2 balls on either side, it'd just have a step?

They use them all the time for MTC's, They are usually just a one pice deal. Slides right into the reciever and gets pinned.

I could take the ball assembly out when I'm not towing and put a step in there. It would still use the same slide part that adjusts up and down.

OK...seriously :D ...I think it's a good idea. I know that with a 3" lift, and 35" tires on my Expedition, I'm always climbing on my hitch to get in the back. Stroker's right, though...gotta watch your shins!

Actually it would probably be more like my knees. But you are right. I have thought about it though.
