Oil Dipstick - How to install??

Hey guys, I have just gotten back my 455 which was completely rebuilt, but guess what... there is no dipstick. So I ordered one and got it in, but it seems to be hanging up on something when I put it in the slot. Can anyone give me advice on this matter. Am I going to need to cut it?? please advise.. thanks

make sure its for a 455 i had the same problem, i had a 454 stick doh :cry:

is it the dip stick or the tube? how far does the stick goes in the tube before it hits something. NO comments from the peanut gallery on that. do not cut it. mine was hitting the sheild that bolts to the main bolts. had to drop the pan and adjust the tube coming through the block.

I guess I am just not sure how far it should go in...
I am putting the tube in and then push the stick in and it seems to hit something... if I push a little harder I can get it to go in, but not sure if it is how it is suppose to be...
WOW this doe not sound right... Appreciate the help!!!
