My good buddie just drove up in a new Black Diesel 05 F250 4x4 4 door Loaded. He is asking for assistance in a lift. I'm into Xtreem Jeepin so I could use your suggestions. We are concerned about drivability. What's good for a daily driver. Thanks.

That new Fabtech lift with the 4" coil overs is pretty bad ass

Well if he was to drive it over SWB's head.. the 8" of shit in it would likely compress to about 3"...high enough??

Donahoe Racing (http://www.donahoeracing.com/ford_results.php?model=Super+Duty&year=2005&submit=Go+%3E). They have the Superduty market pegged :)

FD, I have a 6" Donahoe for a 04 Superduty 4x4 and I think it ride a little rough. But in the dirt it is just awesome. Just what kind of driving going to do.

I would give these guys a call or send an email super duty headquarters (http://superdutyheadquarters.com/) they are in the Phoenix area and I know of several people who have brought their stuff out from Cali to have them do the work :)

I just had Robby Gordon's place put a Donahoe kit on my '05. I think Kreg has the shock valving and spring rates nailed. Truck rides better on the freeway and MUCH better offroad than stock. His kit's 50% increase in front wheel travel makes a huge difference.
I'd also highly recommend the dual steering stabilizer kit. It takes all the factory bump steer slop away when running over bumps.
IMO Donahoe has the best kit for Ford's out there. Good luck! :)

For street drivability, what size tire? 35's?

On my 6" I have 315's (35)

I've put over 350K on 35's. They are a great daily driver tire without being so tall to screw up the gear ratios... Make sure he gets a good AT tire if it's just a street ride.

I have the DR 4.5" on 315/70/17 BFG All Terrains. I really like the kit. It's not the cheapest kit out there, but it's definitely worth the money.

I'd find another brand besides Fabtech. It's just my opinion but I'm sure there are better quality systems out there than theirs.

I have an 05 F250 short bed with the DR 4.5 lift on 35" tires. I'm starting to think that it rides like sh*t. Maybe it is the fwy's around here but the bounce in the back end drives us nuts. The 10 fwy through Beaumont/Banning.. forget the fast lane. Could I have bad shocks or something?

I've driven that in my old 1/2 ton Dodge, my last F250 2wd and my '06 4X and trust me: That road sucks!!!

Well then maybe it's not just me. I thought about some lead ontop of the spare but I'd probably break the cable of something.

Are you running the Donahoe Shocks?

I also have an 06' PSD crew 4X, I'm running the Pro Comp 6" with MX-6 shocks up front and a dual stabilizer. In the back I opted for quad MX-6's and the Fab-tech floating traction bars. Running 35x12.5 17 mud terrains. The overall ride is pretty nice. There's a picture in my gallery, can't access it for some reason.

Donahoe kits are very well engineered. Way more then just a lift kit.

does any lifted truck ride good on the 10 freeway out there? My stock 1 ton would beat you to death if you didn't slow down some. It still beat ya, just slower. lol

I have a 2003 Donahoe 3 inch leveling kit with 315/70/17 bfg's love the ride over stock, also have the Donahoe shocks. Wish I would have done the 4.5
kit but I am happy. Yes the 10 east sucks very choppy ride, but dont buy this type of truck, lift it put offroad tires on it and then complain about the ride  for gods sake they are 3/4 or 1 ton trucks sorry they are not gonna ride like a lincoln GEEEZZZ

These things ride way better with weight in the bed. I had an aux 56 gal diesel tank & pump plus a packrat in my '01 and it rode so nice it was hard to tell it was a 350. My new '05 is kicking my ash. I think it's about to get, you guessed it, a 56 gal aux tank and a packrat...
It did ride pretty nice today with 7K# on my flatbed trailer though... Throw a few hundy pounds worth of sandbags near the tailgate. Takes a lot of the choppiness out.

Mine's still a bit choppy with the 21' back there, but a 38' smooths her right out...

Startin to get some good info here finally. Does stock springs ride better than the $2000 lift's? If so then I would have him do a 2.5" leveling kit and leave the springs alone. Will 35's rub?

He said $2K lifts, not 6K+... :) The Fabtech rep told us at SEMA last year that front kit would run 5K jobber cost. BUT, find a good shock tuner to set up the valving on those 4" coilovers, and there you go.
The Donahoe springs are progressive dual rate deals and they ride MUCH better than stock. The extra wheel travel makes a ton of difference.
Good luck!

It is the best riding one i have been in so far. the only issue i have had is getting stuff since i went with blue. i have bilstien socks in the rear since theres (fabtech) where not out when i got the lift, i also don't have a steering stabalizer yet but it doesn't seem to need one.

I have 315/70/17 BFGs (34.5") on my 2005 4x4 F250 without a lift or leveling kit and my tires are not close to rubbing. Going to install a leveling
kit just because I think it looks better sitting level.
