There are benefits for having a center pod and not having one. The main difference is that idea of the center pod is to help turning. Turning isn't the greatest in all tunnels(I have a DCB) but the pod supposedly helps out a lot. Without the pod, turning is going to be harder, similar cats on the east coast. Your hull will pack more air, thus resulting in more speed. These are the only differences I know of.

I also believe that if your center pod is slightly lower then the outer sponsons, the boat tend to turn flat on a turn. I rode in a 33 Daytona and it was a little unnerving how it leaned to the outside. I'm sure you get used to it, they're great boats, just different from what I'm used to,

The center pod on the Mach 26 is much higher than the outer sponsons, just fyi.

Center pod on a 19' Daytona is even with the outer sponsons. Of course this hull was originally designed for a jet pump and in the Mod-VP days, the Daytonas while competitive, did not turn as well as some of the other hulls. Much better stop light to stop light! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

I believe the center pod acts some what like a pivot point, allowing the hull to lift a little on the outside.

I saw E-Ticket at the show yesterday. It has a center pod. What I don't know is if it has any useable space under the deck. I didn't see a door but the boat was unfinished.

I also saw the E ticket boat at the show. It does have a pod but it is way back near rear. Looks about 3-4 feet long. I imagine this would help with high speed turns and even slow also. I would like to know how it works, keep us posted.

Without some sort of center pod you would not be able to run a single I/O. That is why you can only run O/B's on the smaller skaters. From what COLE said it sounds like they have two bottoms, no center pod for O/B'S and a short center pod for I/O's.

The no center pod bottem is new, they haven't tested it yet. I took a ride in the boat at the show, it was very impressive! No hopping, turns well, etc. I think the twin outboard will be bitchen!

That makes sense with twin O/B's not to have the pod. With the twin's that should turn on a dime. Let us know how she runs. make sure you post it.

cole, you're not backing out of your decision are you?

A center pod will have very different results depending on the tunnel hull design, and on the configuration of the pod itself. Pods are designed in all different configurations - above the outboard sponsons or below; shallow deadrise or steep vee. The performance results will depend on the combined design features of the pod and the overall hull configuration.
If I get more info on the details of the design you're speaking of, I'd be happy to run a quick analysis using the AeroMarine "Tunnel Boat Design" software. Call or email me your info. I'd be glad to help.

Cole - if you've got some tunnel dimensions and power expected, I can have a look at design with and w/o centerpod.

jim boat ,Twin 2.5 offshore short shafts with about 300 hp each,i dont know the dimentions on the bottom ,however E-tickets phone # is 928-505-7886 and talk to brad or scott they could tell you. My bottom is out of the mold now, so they can measure it for you !! Thanks a million this will be very cool http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif Cole

Why did you go with the ss motors on a 28' boat? just wondering. The only boats I have seen running ss motors are the smaller tunnels like the Mach 22. My mach 26 with twin 2.5's was running the offshore models, I think the ss motors would have been two short for the boat unless they are mounted low on the transom, and then unless you have set back you might have some trim issues with the motors hitting the transom.
