"what's everyone's opinion on runnin avgas on a 11-1,200hp shot motor?"
A better question would be ... How long do you want this motor to survive? Running AvGas in it with that big of a Shot increases Significantly the chance of Serious DETONATION and the motor being HISTORY .... AvGas's octane is to low for large amounts of n2o. The old saying: "You can pay now (get something like VP C16 or C21) or, you can pay later (build a replacement motor) applies ... Your Choice.
n2o works well in high compression motors providing it has the right parts in it ... our static CR is above 15:1.

i've got a solid short block,i put eagle crank, eagle h-beam rods, main studs and girdle, forged trw's.should hold up to the 200hp shot.i ran it this last summer on just super all summer to give it time to break in alittle before hitting the juice.i ready to see what's she got and thought i better get my mind rite on what fuel i was goin to use.i've ran nitrous for yrs without a single problem.if you watch your fuel pressure and nitrous gauge it won't lean out and cause a melt down. i've found the key to this is to have a high volume 7psi system and a fuel pressure shut-off switch helps too!

In a previous life, I ran a car with dual stage n2o on a true 14:1 static engine. The car had 2 seperate fuel systems; the first was a 12 gallon fuel cell in the trunk containing Competition 110 with a BG 400 fuel pump pushing the fuel to both 1150 Dominators, the second was a 3 gallon upright tank mounted on the radiator support for the n2o system containing Prostock 118 with a BG 220 pushing fuel to the port and plate nozzles.

i've thought about doin that myself.i've got a holley red pump just sitting on my shelf lookin at me.i just have a nx hitman kit, single stage.i ran it for 2yrs without probs on just a shared pump with the motor.it was set for 150hp though.
bae ,since i went from @8.5-1comp then to 11-1 now shouldn't the 150hp shot fell like it has a bigger "kick".it'd be safer than the 200hp shot i'm sure.

Impatient1 ... In your initial post you asked about a "11-1,200 Hp" shot, not about a 150 or 200 shot ... my post was in response to the 11-1,200 shot.

Do you plan to or are you running an ignition timing controller? I ran an MSD 7AL3, it had a multi-step timing retard feature for each stage of n2o.

sorry for the confusion i meant it like 11.0 to 1 compression with a 200hp shot.
this is what i'm set up for this season.i couldn't image what kinda set-up it would take to run a 1200shot. that would be scary as hell!!

i just run the timing 4degrees less.

As a general rule of thumb, 1.5 degrees of ignition retard for every 50 HP of n2o is common.

I have a friend who swears by it. He runs it on a 496ci chevy with a 10:71 and 18psi. I am pretty sure he is making 900+hp in his 19.5 Schiada.

I run 91 octane in my engine. I ran some nitrous (175hp) a while back and I bumped up the octane for that. I ran vp 100 octane.

No, I loved it. Its all still on there and ready to rock.If possible, Ill have an engine built for alot of nos next go round. I think a 500 shot on the river would be hard to beat.
