Hi!
I trust you are well. Sorry for bothering you, but we need your help since you have experience with the Skater 24 and twins!
We are working on a project for 2002 involving a Skater 24 and twin 2.5 Mercs (Promax). We would be very happy to receive some reccommendations about:
@ mounting of engines (how far from the transoms centreline)
@ propshaft height
@ setback
@ manual brackets vs hydraulic brackets
@ props - Merc cleavers or other brands plus pitch (Mazco, Spinelli, etc)
@ props turning in or out. On a Skater 28 Frode had best overall results spinning outward
@ gear ratio's
@ steering systems (Latham, Marine Machine, etc)
@ handling caracteristics (wot, high seas, etc)
Cheers and thanks,
Toffen Gunnufsen & Frode Sundsdal - Lillesand, Norway

Hey Toffen!
How's things in Norway? Have you tried Offshore Only Forums (http://www.offshoreonly.com/cgidir/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?&category=1)?
They seem to have more Skaters than here. Good luck!

Hi!
Everything is fine in Norway. Colder now, so only 4 weeks left of the season. I have been trying both ScreamAndFly and OffshoreOnly. I hope the best.
Cheers, Toffen

Toffen,
I know of a 24ft Skater in NY 2 brand new Promax 225's,
runs 95 on gps. Very reliable info. I think the Skater is a 92.
A stock pair of 260's will get you there, 300X's, beat your chest, cause you da man then.
I asked for some pictures prior to your post, I requested rigging, inside transom shots, brackets, but it sounds like a first class setup. Should be next day or two.
That's a bad ass boat with XX.

Hi!
Here is the answer from Douglas Marine Peter Hledin:
Dear Toffen,
Hello, sorry for the delay in answering your questions regarding your 24' Skater. Your email was forwarded directly to our factory. To answer your questions, the following is recommended:
1) mounting of engines- C to C 48"
2) propshaft height relative to the bottom, height 1 1/4" above
3) setback- no setback
4) manual brackets vs hydraulic brackets- no jackplates
5) props- 14.5 x 30 3 blade cleaver with -1.87/1
14.5 x 34 3 blade cleaver with 2.0/1
6) prop pitches- see #5
7) props turning in or out- either, your preference
8) gear ratios- either gear ratio or prop
9) steering system- any (Mayfair is cheaper)
10) handling characteristics- hang on!
Yours truly,
Peter Hledin
