You mean for a setback pump?
I would say 1/4 inch, if you are serious about wieght, you could probably move down to 3/16.

Yes, set back. I was thinking 3/16 but wondering what everybody is running on full set-back. 1/4 cant weigh much more.

I run a .090 transom plate but then again my intake is welded to my boat. Got 10 small allen bolts holding the plate to the transom and then life caulk to seal to the pump, never a problem with it.

I'm building on now from 1/4 inch aluminum plate. I also had the seams milled to .125 for a .75 overlap. Doing a final fit today, then get it painted :)

i used a large 3/16 solid pieace around the hole in the transom then 2 smaller side 1/8" side fillers. This way i can just pop off the 2 small side fillers and slide the pump out without removing the hole thing.

if you want to counter sink the mounting bolts then use 1/4-inch plate. if not then 3/16 or 1/8 inch will work fine.

I used 1/8" with no issues. Sandwiched 1/8 neoprene rubber between that and the transom and then filled any voids and built up a nice radius fillet using windsheild urethane. It works awesome and sticks so well its actually difficult to get the plate out when you have to which for me is good piece of mind on the river
Cheers

LICKETY SPLIT-- What kind of boat do you have and do you have any pictures of the whole boat you could share? Your rigging pics in the other thread look nice.
Has anybody seen a transom plate that is recessed so that you could still remove the hand hole cover on a bout that it is only halfway outside on? If so do you have any pictures?

tahitijet- Thanks for the pic. Is that plate recessed where hand hole is or is the cover clear past?

There is a 1/2 circle welded to the back of the large plate with a top and bottom (bottom is notched to fit tight to the pump). the hand hole sits about 1/4 way into that and the notch allows the cover to be easily removed.
I'll try to get a better picture
