thinking of buying a 22 daytona rigged by dcb, its a 1996 and has a 1998 300 promax with 250 hours on it. how fast should this boat run? the guy has a merc high 5 prop on it now that i think is a terrible prop for the boat, what should the prop be? the boat is in great shape, does 27,000 seem about right for this boat? i like the boat cause it has a lot of freeboard, is it the same hull as a dcb mach 22 or that much slower? thanks guys!

$27k seems like a good price for this 22 Daytona. Before you buy go out for a ride in it to see what it's like...NO it is not the Mach 22 bottom. It's a very different bottom and is slower. I can't see the high five prop doing much...A bravo 4 blade 26P will do it. Want a 21 Daytona?

i'm kinda looking at the 22 cause it has a bit more room and sits higher out of the water and still be able to run 80mph. but i will keep that in mind,

Yes, the 22 Daytona does have more room than the 21...If I were you, I'd wait and pick up a used Mach 22 with a promax. I know right now on screamandfly.com somebody is selling a 1998 Mach 22 with a 300 PM for $32k OBO. The Mach 22 is just a MUCH nicer hull and worth the extra $.

i'm going to keep that in mind. but a 26 bravo is the prop of choice for a 22 eliminator for top end? i'm not worried bout hole shot, just speed and handling. i still want to be able to break 80 easily

In my opinion a 26P Bravo will work the best. For all out top speed you might want to try a 28 or 30P Lightning ET.
As for speed...The 22 Daytona with a PM will run 80 with a very light load. I'd expect low 70's typically.

Is that the boat from Conn with a ton of hours, been through a powerhead and ran in pretty much only saltwater for last 5 years....although a good deal, just need to consider the history...

Mbrown...This is the Mach I was talking about. Given that it checks out ok, I'd say at $28kish it'd be a deal. The hours/salt are worrysome though.

About 4-5 yrs ago I talked to the owner a number of times.....boat was kept in good condition; owner had just built a new 32 Skater and the 22 was just sitting there....it may still be a good deal for the price...salt or not.

Hmmmm? I had a 22 Daytona, apples and oranges but it did 94.7 with a stock 502efi/Blackhawk combo. It was light; carbon fiber/kevlar lay-up but all stock. I think the 22's from both DCB and Eliminator will run in the mid to high 80's with the power your looking at. Oh, and High-five props usually don't work well on tunnels; too much stearn lift.
