Come on...someone spill the beans!
Rumor has it that Tony and crew were out at Lake Mead with Bob Teague at the throttles!
How fast did she run?

well my sources said it ran in the 101 Mph range...not bad for a 30' boat with 2.5's

While parked at Copper Canyon on Sunday, I saw them running north from Springs direction heading towards the channel. They appeared to be doing in 90-100 range and the pics don't do the pictures justice...that boat is clean. They also have it sitting on sick nickle color dually extreme trailer...they launched out of Havasu Springs.

2.5's or 300X's. I thought the boat was going to get twin X's. Over 100mph with 2.5's on a 30 footer would be very impressive. I wonder what Franks DCB 29 will do with twin X's. Any ideas what you think max mph will be??

I think they are running 300x's; it looked that way while they were passing, and when you look at the lowers in the other thread, they look like x's..

They were 300x's on the back of the AMT....Hey X-Factor, who is getitng the 29 with X's??? My opinion is that if the AMT only ran 101, the F-29 will be lucky to get 100 argue

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I saw you (Boatjob) in the Channel on Sunday, we were on the city side just at the curve in a Mach 26 (White,Blue.,Red)...your boat for sale is pretty clean looking..

Dave is building a F29 for a friend. Open bow, light layup with twin 300X's. My boat is VERY VERY heavy for a 26 and I'm seeing 105mph with 2 guys and 30-40 gallons of gas. I'm only getting 6300rpm's. I believe Franks 29 will see 100-103mph with the light layup, proped right and little weight onboard. We'll see in August-September.

30' boat running 101 with OB power is impressive but If it had 300 X's I kinda thought it might go a lil faster ... power boat tested the AMT 30 with 2.5's a few months back and it ran 104MPH I think....

Actually, Powerboat tested an AMT 30' in May of 2003. It had twin 2.5's, spinning 15"x32" cleaver, and GPS'd at 98.8mph...Still pretty damn fast for that hull

Ok Boys ~
The AMT has twin 300Xs wink
It ran 101.5 at about 5800 RPMs with only a couple of hours on the motors and super calm waters. WCRM definitely expects more out of this boat after the motors are totally broken in and playing with different props!
Todd will be at Havasu again this weekend putting some more hours on the boat ~ so you'll see him running around since you can't miss that "Mild" paint job :D

Just a little more info...The boat only had a couple hours on it (they just finished the boat hours before the test), and for those that have owned a boat with the new Merc outboards you know the computer limits the rpm's until the motors are broken in. On my Mach 26 one let go at 7 hours the other at 13. My Mach would only run low 90's with the 2.5's util the motors were broken in, after that it ran 106.
I still think the boat will run 105-110 once the computers let the motors loose. For a 30'6" boat that will run through some rough water I am impressed so far.

That boat is absolutely beautiful. The more I see it, the more I like it. I can't wait to see the twin big block version-hehe.
Anyone know how much that paint job cost?
Either way, I think it may be worth it.

I saw the completed boat on the trailer yesterday in Havasu for the first time, and the pictures don't do it justice. The Extreme trailer that it sits on is one of the nicest I have seen as well.
I was at Havasu Springs in the parking lot looking at the boat, and it was attracting a crowd. You really have to see the paint in person to get the full effect, the finished product is awesome. Vale does some very nice work.
I am keeping the Cig for now but if I was in the market for another cat I think the AMT would be the one. I might wait for the 32' inboard version though.

I saw the boat with the paint work completed, but not rigged. It looked awesome! I'm sure it looks unbelievable all rigged and completed.
Dick....If your lurking, EXCELLENT JOB  What products did you paint that thing with?? Whatever you used, it must be the best. I've never seen a paint job look that good :D :D :D

This boat was out at Havasu this past weekend and as we headed down to Springs for dinner he tried to go up against a friends 28' Skater with 2x300's. The Skater took him, not sure of the speed they were running, would guess about 100-110.

I gotta say pictures do that boat no justice.Todd happens to be my neighbor out at the springs.I got an eye full of that boat the whole weekend. It is absolutely beautiful, the rigging is phenominal,Todd said they were still testing props all weekend he said they werent near the rev limiter yet, he told me the boat has no wood in it and is still for sale.I guess a couple serious buyers approached him.To bad i already bought the sabre etc. etc. ...derek

Hey everybody thanks for the posts that you've been putting up. All the remarks are positive. We are going to be out the weekend of 5/16-18... More testing of motor heights and props. Running better every time it is in the water. Personally being in a few boats, I've never felt more SAFE in the big water than in this boat!! Hope to see you peoples out there.
Thank you again TONY... wink

Let me ask you. Do you have to have a good set of goggles in that boat? Because I tell you what, I run wide open all the time, every where. If you need those motors broken in, I'll break 'um for ya! There's no throttles that I can't handle!!!!!

does that boat have any porpoise? it is a true tunnel right? as far as i've heard most true tunnels have an unbelievable porpoise at lower speeds.

Tony, Your dad showed me pictures at work. That's one hell of a boat. I know you don't know me but I know your dad from working with him at Bud's. The boat is beautiful and can't wait to see it in person. I go to the Springs a lot so I hope to get a glimps of it there. Your dad is very proud. I think you need to get him a frame so he can put it on his desk. By the way your dad is a hell of a guy. Hope one day to meet you.

How does paint hold up as opposed to gel in the mold, any special needs?

Havasu Cig
06-16-2003, 07:48 AM
If the paint is done right it is very durable. The paint on our Cig is Imron and you could probably hit it with a hammer and not chip it.
