 Since you've already roughed it up a bit spray it with some Clear laquor while the laquor is still wet sprinkle some sand on it. Works for me.

Might not be the fanciest thing around, but after trying different types of pads, that either didn't look professional, or would peel up, I went with some step pads from Dana Marine on my steps.
They work great.

Try the stuff used for spray on grip tape for skateboards (also used for skimboards) -it used to be called sure-grip. The stuff goes on clear w/o sand or other hard abrasives, I think it is an acrylic based solution. Anyhow, try your local skate/surf shop and give it a try, good luck.

That product mixes with paint. Do you plan on Painting your steps, or adding it to gel coat?

We did this very same thing to our Carrera after seeing yours Rick! Works great. And I think it looks good too. No more worries.
