Having lived in Havasu for many years and actually being a Lake Havasu High graduate, it really sucks to see all of the negative stuff going on there lately. It was such a great place to grow up and be a kid. Every time I go back it seems to just go backwards. Sucks.

I have been all over the USA this past year and you see the same thing.
It seems like people today do not care about anything. I live at the beach and see people leaving trash all over and then I go to Havasu and see the same crap on the lake.

I see the same stupid crap here too. My point was it didnt used to be like that. People cared about each other and were just there to have fun. I cant even leave my boat out for an hour now with out half of it missing. I never even used to lock my front door living there.....

It's not that people don't care; it's that the people that don't care FAR OUTNUMBER the people that do. And when the ones that don't are on "their time", like a weekend...Watch the phuch out!
They're gonna dump trash - 'cause someone's gonna get paid to pick it up.
They're gonna phuch up someone's stuff - "'cause if they can afford that stuff; they can afford to fix it"
They're gonna steal stuff - 'cause "insurance will get them a new one and I don't have one"!
They're gonna do mayhem - 'cause it's fun to mess with people.
Rant off!

As TCHB said, the problem isn't just in Havasu.
It is everywhere.
Our small town in Nor Cal is experiencing the same growth and people related problems. Folks fleeing the large urban areas for an improved lifestyle many times unknowngly and unwittingly bring the problems they are trying to escape with them.
In this county, we figured that about 70% of our crimes against property are directly related to methamphetamine use/abuse/dealing/manufacturing.
There are a large number of people out there who procreated back in the late 80's early 90's, and they never accepted or even acknowledged the responsibilty they have to at least teach their now 13-20+ year old offspring simply how to function in a civilized society.
Those people don't even deserve to be labled parents. Many of them were raised by parents who were at the tail end of the tye-dye generation, who themselves didn't want to deal with the tough part of raising kids; they only wanted to be their "friends".
So here we are.
I am really considering a move, at least part time, to Havasu within the next 2-3 years for strictly health related reasons. It does sort of kill the thrill when I am in town and see the tweakers and gangsters.
I ain't got much patience for that crap anymore.

That picture makes me want to catch the bastards that do that. We need some type of citizen watch like on neighborhoods.

I`m not attempting to start a fire here so,please strap on this may bristle some? Won`t most people agree the place has grown to fast and way to many demands on the services, police, water, sewer etc.You can`t blow into Dodge and demand, expect that your perfect life is going to continue an there won`t be some problems. My opinion Lake Havasau`s problems have just begun. Not trying to dig dirt the past Mayor today was arrested on cocaine charges.

THis has been going on for a long long time. We started going up river (When it was fairly isolated) in the late 80's to get away from the trash in the coves.
To be honest this is Indian land. (as in repsect mother earth) They collect fees for the use of the beach and have a casino. You think they could launch a skif now and then to pick up the horrble build up of trash. We contemplated cleaning it up but it would have filled our boat with about 12 30-gallon bags. We always leave with more trash than we go out with but this was beyond our means to clean up :frown:

It's not just the trash leavers... the folks who bring pallets to burn on "fire Ok" beaches, and leave fire pits full of nails to walk on.. the same morons who toss beer bottles into the fire, as if the glass will go "poof" and not be left behind...the lops who leave diapers in bushes (or hell, I've seen them in shopping carts at the grocery store) for us to enjoy looking at for months as thry slowly rot into the ground, the plastic bags, bottles, and other debris that floats into the eddies and sinks to the shallows or wraps on the prop.
##SIDE RANT HERE: Last night I had a family of folks eating mc Kids meals in their Ford pick up. I watched as the dad opened the window, and tossed two of the kids meal boxes and papers out of the window into the lot. I blocked in their ride with my city-owned bucket, picked up their trash and dropped it back into the window onto the lap of the dad. At first he looked like he was gonna open his door and be angry, until he saw my clothes and said, "I'm sorry about that Officer." I told him the only reason he was sorry is he got caught, and to take his trash to the can 20 feet from his truck. (I didn't have any tickets, or I would have given him a coupon to better remember the evening.) I was PISSED, but I believe the lesson was learned by this ya-hoo. ##
To me, it's all a matter of pride. Pride in yourself, pride in your surroundings. This is the US, It's perfectly legal to act like an idiot or live in self-inflicted squalor, but please, do it within you own walls. Don't impose your lack of pride for yourself and your lands on the rest of us. Careless, selfish oxygen theives who scatter trash and destroy property have no pride at all. Their parents either never gave it to them, or they ignored the lessons. They get their frustration over their lack of self-worth out by ruining it for others. That's why I have always tried to leave things at least as nice as I found them, and do what I can to make it just a bit better for the next guy... and by the looks of the posts most of the HB'ers I see do the same. :)
<looking down> DAMN this soapbox got tall fast.. :boxed: Back to sea level now..
