Having big trouble with 8/71 on 505 BBC. I have 2 1000cfm blower demons and have good idle cold. Starts easy when cold. When warm and sitting for a couple of hours. Boat will start then die and is next to impossible to restart. Timing is 20 initial and 34 total. Compression is 7.5 /1 and blower is overdriven 6%, making 9#. Runs great when running and also wants to die when going into gear at 900 rpm. I am new to this forum so any info would be great.

Its probably dropping the timing at low rpm. Lock the ignition out so it is 34 all the time. You will like that much better.

lock the ignition at 34 like Fiat said----use a start retard if you have to---your idle seems a little low----and sounds like the blower is boiling the carbs when you shut down----invest in some good wooden or micarta spacer plates to prevent as much heat transfer from the blower case as possible when you shut it down
