I have 81 Sleek Craft Executive that needs gel coat work and new seat frames and upholstery. This is my first boat and I don't know much about boats. Would like some opinions on this boats. I have maybe around $6000 into right now.

If your trying to resell the boat, probably not. It is a nice classic daycruiser. I have a similar one that I just spent $10k getting the interior, carpet, and floor done, and fixed the gel-coat (it only need a buff, and a couple dings fixed. Looks like new. The engine has 500 hrs on it. The plastic windows will need attention, but from what I have found, you can find everything you can't fix. If you buy it, come by the Classic boat show in October. You'll find a lot of helpful people that can guide you through the restoration.
So, put $10K-$15K into it, or buy a new boat (similar with trendy updates) for $100K+.
I like the cuddy cabin. It is nice boating in the cooler weather (60-70F) and being able to get out of the wind.

For about $15,000 in parts and labor you can build a nice $10,000 boat.....
But, new ones are stupid expensive. I say do it. Make it the way YOU want to. Then enjoy the shit out of it.

Ther is a photo of a 73 Sleek Exec which I totally restored for about 16K invested. It finally sold for 5K after 9 months. If you are really going to keep it, then I would, but if you aren't, I don't think I would do it.
Just my thoughts.
There is a pic of it in image center..........e-ticket

When it comes to used boats it's always hard to find one that you wont be working on anyway. Get it the way you want and then you can just enjoy it. I worked on my boat every year for the first 5 years. The last 3 years I haven't had to do anything and it's a 1988. It looks about brand new. And it runs that way. I have a lot of cool pictures of the way it looked during those first years but they are all on film and my scanner doesnt work since windows XP. I still remember floating through the channel with huge sections on the hullsides still in raw glass.

I agree. You should spend your money into a more cooler boat than these. Just my 2 cents. :)
