Alright guys, this is the moment to truth for ya....Whenever I see threads about "how fast have you gone in your boat" I always chuckle because it's always followed by, ""I ran out of prop," or "this was with 1/2 tank of gas and four people" etc.. It seems to be that there aren't many boats out at Havasu during the hot weekends that due indeed run at the numbers that their owners say they do. Maybe they run 110mph in the winter with 1 person and no gas....But what's the point of saying that when you're at havasu all summer??? For example a buddy of mine has a Mach 26 with a blown Teague 509, and at this time of year under "normal" conditions he only runs between 90-95mph max.
From this, I'd like to see what boat/power etc. you're running and what speeds you KNOW that your boat will run in the 110 degree Havasu heat under these "normal" conditions. (ie., more than 1 person in the boat, and with the normal gear in the boat.) Thanks guys, I'm just using this for comparison with our boat...To see if Outboards do run that much faster in the HAvasu summer heat.

My DCB Mach26 is about the same,no matter what the weather.80-83...When the boat is full of people and gas it runs about 78-80,when its full of gas and 2-3 peeps in it 80-83.Weather doesnt bother it too much, but fat ass friends in the back do..... :D

2000 Mach 26, twin 280 hp 2.5's ran 106 in the winter, 95 in the heat of the summer.
2001 Mach 26 blown 510 ran 105 in cooler weather, right around 100 in the summer.
The I/O was not effected by weight as much as the O/B's.
BTW, The Cig with the 500 EFI's does not seem to be affected by the heat much at all. I only loose at the most a couple miles an hour.

With six people in the boat it is a bitch getting on plane, but with three not a problem just get's up and goes(a little slow out of the hole but once on plane pulls hard). Considering a 30 when the boat is loaded.

Ya, I remember you! I run the same prop at 5400-5500. What rpm can you turn? you probably have a little more slip than I due to the bigger boat.

I can't answer the question because I have never held it wide open with a boat load of people. The boat is too fast and the risks are too great to hold it wide open when I am full of people. When I am loaded down with people and we are not wearing life jackets I keep it under 80 mph. After the HTM crash I have tried to make a habit of wearing a life vest any time I run over 100 mph. This includes my pasengers. I even bought myself a full competition Life Line jacket for hard core speed runs.
Before the HTM crash my now 5 year old daughter had been over 100 mph at least 10 times. After the crash she has yet to go over 100.
Anybody going over 100 should make sure all passengers are wearing a life vest. I still have my "In memory of our brothers lost" sticker on the front of my boat as a reminder of the constant danger we put ourselves and our passengers in when we get on the gas.
Sorry to sound so depressing but I thought we could all use a friendly reminder of the danger of our sport.

In the mid 80's with 4 people, cooler, close to full tanks, and a heavy stereo system, I was radared 2 times at 101, and that was only the 2nd time out with the new motor, the back of the boat was dark grey instead of white.

You are probably right, current rpm is about 5300-5400. Warlock set the limiter at 5800 as said I should be able to reach it by feeding it a little more trim. Maybe next trip!! :D :D

RD That's what we expect, but it really doesn't matter, it will be plenty fast enough.
To echo SVO 540 We also will be wearing life vests over 100. Good reminder SVO. Let's all remember to use common sence out there this season.
