that is the first time I've seen it after the day I sold it.
That's the boat I should have never sold and miss it every day.
I sold it less engine and it looks just like it did the day it left my house from what I can tell. Wing looks cool but worked better hanging on the wall in the garage.
It had a lenco safe drive back then so no whirlaway. I blew up with Lenco and at that point let the boat go.
It was a great boat back then.
So what's the story with it now?
I bought it from Del Torres (sp). Raced and played with it for 9 years. I sold it for 4,500 bucks, what's the price up to these days?

here is a pic I took the day I pulled the engine out. The guy that bought it picked it up the next day.

It's in the Boat Trader listed as an "84" for $5,500.

it only went up 1K, not bad. But in the last 6 years it got to be 10 years newer. It was a 74 when I owned it.
I WANT IT BACK!! I wonder it he'd trade it for a 20' schiada??

OK, before anyone drive 1,000 miles to look at it here's what I remember.
It had a fair amount of stress cracks around the transom. Nothing that big of a deal but they are there. The stringer on the right side was comming loose around the v drive. It also had the white milky look on the floor on the drivers side in front of the v drive (tell tale delam signs).
Focker always ran straight and true. With a 461" blown injected engine (on kill) my best was 8.22 @ 128mph. Not the lightest boat in the pack but you don't want to walk on the deck.
Dick Vale paint job was around 12 years old when I let it go. Was showing the wear but still looked pretty good.
I swear it looks like the guy did nothing to it AT ALL. It had a nice work apron that went all the way around the sides and back of the boat. Also had a dust cover and a cover that snapped over the cockpit. Should have 2 Russle side tanks.

That is way cool, it is awesome to link boats with their past.
Dave, I did not know you were so serious back in the days. :)

well I did the best I could at the time.
I was making around 35K a year so I didn't have the latest and greatest trick stuff. I ran used props and the engine was built in a friends shed beside his house.
I will say I ate mostly top raman back in those days. lol Slept in the back of the truck at the races and so on.
But I'd run it at Ming one weekend and drive it to the Roadrunner the next.
Ah the good ol days!!

SD, well i bought it from a guy who had it stored in a warehouse at the docks in San Pedro. Yes it did come with a blown up Lenco. It is still a 74 Hondo.
I sold my 71 Hondo at Big River on Fathers day and since Quickjet wants to keep his, i guess i will have to find a motor and run it next year. If i do plan on selling it i will give you the first shot. There are other photos in the gallery for you to see :)

I sold it to a guy named Bob who was a Long Shoreman down there. From looking at those pics he never did anything with it at all. It is 100% just like I left it.
I bought it less engine and I made just a few changes. I installed the t tank and made those brackets. I also made the outter braces for the v drive. Those speed holes in the motor plate and new strut braces are also my work. I didn't make new engine plates but should have. Those are not straight and the engine leans a little. You can't tell when you are standing there but could see it a little when it had headers on it and towing it behind the truck. That always bugged me. lol
Congrats on a kick ass boat.
Well, now ya know where the 013 on the end of my screen name came from.

if you install a bbc blown injected (Enderly bird) with no intercooler and zoomies in it that cover will fit like a tight condom.

SD, yep thats the guy. He said he had it for 7 years. He runs an injected Hydro and could use the $ to get it going again.
