Hey All,
I'm pretty new to the forum here and wondering if you all could tell me anything about this boat? I am buying a house on Table Rock Lake in MO and the seller is offering me this boat for an extra $20K. It's an 2004 Allison XS-2003 GRAND SPORT with a 1998 1998 2.5 SS on it. I just sold a Stoker with a carbed bridgeport 2.4 on it a couple of months ago. I have never even seen an Allison, but I read good things. How fast should this go if it's properly set up? Are Allison hulls stable?

The Grand Sport is probably the best family type boat that Allison has ever made. It's quick stable and good looking. The price is not bad for that year depending on condition. I'd offer him $17,500 and see if he comes to something less than 20k and I bet he will.
The boat will be faster than your Stoker and will handle rough water as well but there will be a learning curve. Once learned it stays for life and on to other Allisons. Be easy with the trim button.

I owned a '92 GS for 13 years. I ran a 260 and a 280 on it. This boat will carry weight better than any other lake hot rod out there and will flat move for a little ski boat. Granted, your not going to out run a STV in good water but he wont hang with you in the rough stuff. The Allison hulls are extemely strong and hold their value very well. Like Towndrunk said there is a learning curve. It is NOT a point and shoot hull like a tunnel but once you learn to drive a Ally you can drive anything. A 280 shorty should get you 91-92mph with four people and gear. Boat should be good for 103-105 mph with a light load. Dont think twice about buying an Ally.....dang I still miss mine.

I have a 2000 Gse and with 225 pm get 90 @ 2500ft! Good on gas too.I ski and tube with it family of four seats 5 adults with room to spare! you will not regret it. A new gs with 225 sells for $50000.00 !!! on a trailer of course. 20 grand sounds about right with that motor. James

As some other have alluded to, there is a learning curve when figuring out how to drive this boat. You need to learn how to set this thing on the pad. The v-bottom boats feel and run completely different from the tunnels.

If the boat is am 04' $20,000 for the boat and a 2.5/260 SS is a great deal. I've had mine for about 5 years and love it. There is definitely a learning curve but setup right and with the right experience that boat should easily run over a 100. I've had mine to 105+, and 102 with 2 people.
About the best 20' 100 mph family boat you can buy.

I get the heebie-jeebies everytime I see an Allison up like that. :220v:
I've never seen an Allison get anyone hurt and I've seen alot of idiots "try" to set 'em w/ lots of HP on the transom. They just look spooky to me.
