I believe that's speed coat, not primer. :crossx:

Looks killer. What did you do to the bottom??

I filled all the chips in the strakes, made sure the back 6 feet or so were as close to perfect as I could and then speedcoated...wasn;t as concerned with the front, as its barely seen and doesn't affect performance...It was my first time doing gel coat repairs, the color matching was slightly off, but pretty close...

Nice work, looking at a hull real similar to yours. Hows it handle the rough water?

Looks real nice. I might be a little bias though.
AZKC, they are not great bottoms in the rough stuff. Also, the back sits very low in the water. I take alot of water when I am anchored. I love mine none the less.

Got any shots of the back of the boat showing the lifting strakes? The one I'm looking at has some small (+/- 6" wide) tunnel/runner bottom things on the outside edges.

I believe you're right calling it a runner bottom...mine has them...

when i first got my old 79 biesemeyer i called it a runner bottom and got jumped all over.......was told biesemeyer never made a runner bottom but call it a dropped chine. they sure do sit low in the back.....but what i noticed when i was driving mine was that when i slowed down for a wake, no mater what angle i hit it at......i would take water over the forward deck :)
its really looking good there missing......did u buff out the old paint or what?.......

Thanks, I did some gel repairs on any bad gouges, and then I sanded them smooth with fine paper, and then wetsanded with 1500 and waxed, looks pretty good. I didn't want to paint it cause I don't like how scrapes in paint look. I'm not denying its an old boat...but it shines up ok. It takes water over the bow every wake you cross? Should I get a splash gaurd for the back or does the built in reverse angle on the deck? Thanks

Get a splash guard. I have taken a few wakes over the bow. The transom, guaranteed.

i never had a prob with water over the stearn that lip on the back throws the water back out......just over the bow

Mine always gets wet front and back. I almost have 6 in of freeboard in rear with 4 people and fuel and they ride a little rough in the chop. I have 2 large bilge pumps to keep me floating. The rear lip helps but anything larger than a mosquito landing next to the boat and I'm taking on water. I've had mine for 5 years now and havn't sunk it, but, close.
