did Ford have a big block back in the 60's with the distributor in the rear? If not, any idea what Ford engine did?

The last passenger car engine with the dist. in the rear is the Y block [239-256-272-292-312] built from 1954 thru 1962 [pass. car] and 64 in pick up trucks.

thanks Bob! A friend of mine was given a 1965 pickup with one of those engines in it. He swore up and down that it's a big block but I had never heard of one. Since I have limited experiences with Fords, I didn't really know.

Deff. not a big block. Y-blocks were the std. V8 engine in 54 thru 57 pass. cars and Thunderbirds. Became the "small" V8 in 58 when the 332-352 FE came out in 58 and continued as the low option until 62 for cars, continued thru 64 in trucks. If the truck is a 65 it should have a 352 FE in it. Perhaps someone swapped the Y-block into it. Does the dist. lay over at about a 45deg angle towards the passenger side of the truck? If so its deff. a Y-block.
