Looks like the monsoon season might be coming a little early this year.
Usually don't see this much until late July and early August

35mm or digital? Nice shots. If 35mm, what film and settings did you use?

thanks guys for all the nice comments. Really it's easy to take photos of lightning. I'm using a 4 year old Olympus C-5050 5 mexapixel digital camera.
I was using a tripod when I took those photos.
You have to have the ability to leave the shutter open for a about of time to capture these images.
Those first two, when the sun was still setting was difficult to get cause of the amount of light still visible to the camera lens. I was only using a 1 second shutter speed on the first two photos and has it got darker I could increase the about of time the shutter could stay open, and also decrease the F-stop. (16 secs max open shutter on that camera)
Other settings for the lightning are, manual mode, IS0 100, F-Stop around 4.0-5.6, (depending on the intensity of the lightning) focus set to infinity, flash set to off.

it was going off again big time last night over the Needles area but was just too far off to get any photos out of it. Hope get some more storms in Havasu this week! I'll post if I capture any good ones.

Nice pics, Mike. I love sitting through the storms out there. Plus, the desert smells so good after a rain. MMMmmmmmmm.

thanks again guys. right now it is very stormy outside in Havasu. A flash flood watch was just issued by WNS and looks like it's going to get nasty anytime. Hope to get some lightning images tonight! Stay tuned.

there is lots of lightning in Havasu at the moment, just waiting for it to get dark. The temp dropped from 108 to 88 degrees in just a matter of a few minutes.
