Very cool find, I've been in your garage and would think you're just scratching the surface on stuff you have stashed away. I really like that sanger shirt, never seen it before. When Billy Jr blew his dads 'Rated X' over in the early 80's, (worlds fastet jet) I tried to talk him into doing a shirt just like that one but with the rated x boat upside down and billy still hanging onto the steering wheel that he ripped outa the dash. He was pretty messed up from the crash and didn't see any humor in it. There were a few TV shows at the time using the footage of his crash in the opening credits of their show and he wasn't making a dime on it. I thought the shirts might bring him a few bucks.
Horrific crash, lucky he lived.

Just a thought. I have been a asphalt circle track guy for 25 years. I had shirts from about 1979 through about 2001. I quit wearing them years ago and put them away in boxes. My lovely bride took them and spent about six months making them into the coolest racing quilt you have ever seen. Every shirt is in a full size square and very legible. She gave it to me for a x-mas gift and it was like looking at my life for the last 25 years.

What a great Idea....I can imagine your memories must be infinite. And with all
those shirts around you-- you'll never forget. I quit dirt and asphalt circle racing in 1979.
That was about the time the shirts started to get nice. Of course had several Ascot items but never saved those.
Went to FireBird for 12 straight years. Always had to have a couple a Race.
Good thing I wasn't able to follow the circuit.

Steve, you should clean out the rest of that garage. Who knows maybe there is a V-Drive in there somewhere... :)

Very nice collection! That "Shit Happens" is a trademark infringement on our shirts done in the 70's, 80's, 90's. "Finish Line Engineering" "the original speed shop for boats", had a registered trademark with the international "O \" and the flatbottom without driver. Ray and Timmy did me in with their "Boat Busters" using a similar logo, and now this one. My lawyer wants to know if Daryl Hallas has any money. HA HA HA! It's nice to go back to "younger times".

By the way, I stopped and talked to Dexter Tuttle a little over a year ago here at Firebird. They are running the Skull dragster now with JR Todd. I believe they just won an event recently too. Brad Tuttle was doing the crew chief work at the time, and may still be, I dont follow NHRA very much. Kinda cool to say hello to them at the same time and tell them I loved watching them run while growing up. Ironically we were standing next to Firebird lake when I asked him if he was going to get back on the water...his look said it all :rollside: He feels lucky enough to be alive.

Thanks, got your pm! I'm sure I've got some other Old vintage DragBoat shirts, just need to dig through my other boxes of stuff. Back in those days teams would make shirts other colors than white. Blue, yellow, tan, black, pink, etc.....
I even got that pirated one in multicolor that says "Drag Fok'n Boat Races"!
I'll try to post when I find them!!!
