Where to start: There were so many idiots my stomach hurts from
laughing. And before all you haters EVEN start there was only 1 family
in need of help. Of course the whole crew jumped in to help as we all sang
row row row your boat, while the boat was being passed to person to person.
(they had fuel pump problems)
Well lets start with the brilliant brain of this guy. His truck wouldn't pull
out the boat, so :

Yep he puts a towel under his wheel:
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687towel2.jpg
And those haters from yesterday: Here is BigDoug helping about the
15th boat and he was only there an hour.
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687toweldoug.jpg
Just another of the crew helping
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687helpingagain.jpg
More great backing up. There must of been 3-4 different trailor collisions.
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687trailers.jpg
SeaTow was one of the worst. It comes in at raming mode, up to the launch
ramp, grinds his props, takes off to quick and almost loses his wife.
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687seatow.jpg
Here is some of that Great driving. Collision....#...
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687moreboatscollide.jpg
The CREW. as the night went on, there was easily 100 people cheering people
on at the ramp.

This is the story. Dad in the boat, mom in the truck. Daughter trying to
catch boat at mach2 speed. Dad misses and tries again. All the while
yelling at his daughter and wife.(wife had a hell of a time backing up but
got it in)
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687story1-med.jpg
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687storty2.jpg
The guy gets sidewards, runs over someone elses trailor, then his, his prop
is shot, then ends up in the rocks.
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687story4.jpg http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/7687story3.jpg
This is the crew jumping in to help him.

There are SOOOO many stories but once it got dark, the camera wasn't taking
very good pictures.

struggling on this ramp.

are some great guys in the crew that would help out anyone.

the looks of that ramp, it appears to drop down significantly pretty quick.
is this the case-? it would also appear at this water level to hang-up
long trailers.... does it-?
I love the show, but I help if/when you can tell they have no clue, that,
and they must be a bit humbled and ACCEPT help. if they're dicks, then
it's great to watch them ruin there own stuff......

This ramp was entertaining back in the late 80's. Save me a seat.... and yes I am always ready to lend a hand.

For all you haters about ramp fools consider this. Why would you take out a boat and not have a clue as to how or what to do. Wouldnt it make sense to try it on a ramp a little less busy and practice backing up at the same time. I know I certainly did. And it also seems that about 90% are Bayliners, Rinkers, Four Winns, Malibus or Tige type, Not that there is any thing wrong with that, just seems like they are always involved in the comedy :D NSF

Exactly! My third trip out with my last boat (I moved up from a 21 foot jet to a 25 I/O) and it is windy as all hell. I had to take the lane next to the wall, and I am trying to trailer the boat with 1-2 foot swells lapping up at site 6! Well this truck with a double lake lice trailer pulls down next to my truck, and the 2 dipsh*ts on the seadoo's come hauling ass onto the ramp. They shut down power about 10 feet from my boat, and launch themselves onto their trailer. This little stunt causes 2 waves to start pushing my boat off line, and right into the wall!
This is where I must give props to the crowd....they started yelling at the lice infested *ssholes, and these 3 burly guys got up to help push my boat away from the wall, back on line and I pilot it perfectly onto the trailer...illiciting an 8 from someone in the crowd. I gave the guys a twelver for their efforts, which they gladly accepted, and drove away from site six never to launch or retrieve there again!

Or if its a real issue one could have the rams off in two min. with an adj. wrench. Tie the 1/2 wack up with a rope and leave. An hour? Come on. It would be me behind him waiting.
All the drama is a common sense problem. Yelling at your spouse and kids really helps. Wind plays a factor but I think what were looking at here is excessive Beer and lack of common sense.
One other thing - one either has common sense or they don't. There is only so much training a basic moron can absorb. It seems to me you can always find issues at any ramp but with site 6 there is no moron escape.

I actually received a standing ovation back in 1988, I was a rookie to site 6 and it looked pretty normal when we launched in the morning. When we returned to the ramp at the end of the day we could not believe all people watching. I had a 21’ jet at the time and we had it on and out faster than I could say party foul. The crowd went wild as we pulled up the ramp…….We just laughed.
I now have a 30’....I do the trailer and the little women handles the boat, she does a perfect job every time we launch. But I don’t think that I would ever want to use that ramp with her. It’s a tuff crowd and I think she would fold under the pressure. :D :D

boatsnblondes
07-03-2006, 04:12 PM
Well, one thing I did do to facilitate faster load times onto the trailer, was to add side bunkers...I can put the boat anywhere I want to, but it always wanted to drift after the bow was tied in, and I ended up having to resink it to adjust it to the stringers....now, with the side guides, I simply run it right up the trailer to the bow rest and winch down, raise the outdrive and pull...thing comes right out of the water on the stringers every time...I've driven all three, a jet, v drive, and bravo one, and I have to say, each is a challenge, but the bravo has been the biggest learning curve...

I would never go to site 6!! It is one of the worst ramps i have ever seen!!! Idiots, slippery as hell and not to mention the pressure with a stadium of people watching!!

last time we launched there wy wife could not pull the boat out... tires were spinning/ smoking. nobody offered to jump on the back and just laughed at us. so i jumped in the drivers seat and got heckled "ooh he thinks he can do it!!" i power braked the truck up the ramp pulling the boat out the first try and got a standing round of applause.
half the idiots that watch are the same idiots that have trouble launching themselves :rollside:

Tough crowd down in Socal.
The last two summers I've been putting in/out solo. I can get my 18' jet on the trailer in about a minute.
I've never attempted to drive it on..... just float it on and pull it out.
A couple weekends ago I watched a couple pulling a bigger boat out.... maybe 28' cuddy..... after roughly 20 minutes of dicking around with the boat on the trailer they pull it out.... then they stop about 3' out fo the water and realize it's not straight on the trailer.... the wife get's out of the truck to see and within a few seconds the entire rig starts rolling..... apparently she didn't put it in park. The whole thing was in the water. Truck up to the back window. The lady made a sprint down the dock and literally dove from the dock into the driver's window of the truck... she actually made it inside in one shot and somehow managed to pull the whole thing back out.
Amazing.
Another guy last year wasn't so lucky..... rammed his mastercraft through the back window of his Suburban. Focked the boat and truck all up. Too much booze and too few brain cells.

On the 4th while sitting on the trailer waiting to be pulled out a huge new bayliner came in way hot next to me. She missed the part of the trailer that holds the bow but slammed the side of the boat with it and gelcoat went flying. It hit me in the face and i'm still finding pieces of it in my boat! The guy was way lucky she threw it into reverse so fast or his truck would have been crushed. I guess thats what people expect out of site six. I felt way bad for her when her husband started yelling. No crowds to cheer them on though. I wish i had pics.

The building is some sort of bunkhouse or something. Site 6 is an old Army airstrip and recreation joint from WWII. Somebody can explain a lot better but that's the jist of it.
Here:
"Site #6, now officially known as Lake Havsau Auxiliary Field #6, was acquired by the Army Air Forces during World War II as an emergency landing field for the Kingman Army Air Field's Yucca Aerial Gunnery Range. The emergency field was established in 1943 and consisted of two runways. In 1944 the site was improved for use as a rest and convalescent camp for the Kingman Army Air Field. United States servicemen enjoyed swimming, fishing, skeet shooting, motor boating, and hiking activities while relaxing on the banks of Lake Havasu."

After lurking on this forum for quite a while, the bump on the post showing the Site 6 ramp retrieval problems has made me curious.
My first boat was a 1974 20' SeaRay bought from Ashley's Boat Shop in Vegas, in 1974. Every boat he had in the yard on a trailer came with side bunks. Since then, I've owned 6 other trailer boats, and I either ordered aftermarket side bunk kits from the trailer builder, or I ordered the bunks as original equipment.
My last 2 boats are pictured. The Stingray came on an Extreme trailer with factory bunks, my current Ebbtide is on a Ziemann trailer with factory bunks that I just got last year.
They mount the bunks so that there is about 2" between the carpet and hull, enough room for wipe-down. Loosen a couple of set bolts and you can remove them in less than a minute for waxing.
They make retrieving in cross-wind and current simple. Get the bow started in between the bunks, and just let it idle forward.
Looking at the pics in this thread convinces me that side bunks would help the people in the pics. Why don't boat trailers come with standard side bunks anymore?

OMG! Totally funny:D ...but kinda mean too! :( I always do a great job pulling the boat off & on,& I have had my share of yelling at jackasses at the launch ramp. However...last year I was almost in tears during a massive monsoon at Crazy Horse.........I felt like an ass! I think that alot of these people are probably drunk off their asses, some are definitely stupider than shit.........but there are some that just get frazzled having everyone watch them. ;) Non the less...............good times...good times!
