With 6.135 rod = 1.520 comrpession height pistons.
With 6.385 rod = 1.270 compression height pistons.

ok really got me loss now.
With 6.135 rod = 1.520 comrpession height pistons.
With 6.285 rod = 1.270 compression height pistons.
what crank would i use?

6.385 long rod (I see I typed it wrong above) would be the preferred.

just food for thought!!...4.280 (.030) x 4.250= 489ci...7ci difference & alot less money to spend...if u have 1.52 CH pistons, u can use 6.135 rod...then all u need is the crank...no boreing...no rods & pistons...much better cost effectiveness!...just my .02 cents

so if i already have the block and pistons and rods all i would need is a crank and i would have a 489. is this correct?

Depends on what the Ch of the pistons you now have are. If they are standard pin location pistons for a 454...then you are gonna need new pistons....because using the stock piston is going to put the piston 1/8" out on the deck height.

Yes, as long as the pistons are 1.52 CH...then all u need is the crank...shop around...SCAT, EAGLE, Etc...std/std is what u want...are the pistons forged?...full floating pins?...good full floating steel rods?
