Victim Was Just 14 When She Was Raped And Killed By US Soldiers

BAGHDAD: The young Iraqi woman who five US soldiers are accused of raping and killing on March 12 was 14 years old, not over 20, as US officials have said.
US court documents described Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi, who was shot dead along with her sister and parents, as an "adult female" and estimated her age as 25. Local officials and relatives had said she was 15 or 16, but her identity card and a copy of her death certificate show she was born on August 19, 1991 in Baghdad.
Her identity card, issued in 1993, features a photograph of her at 18 months, wide-eyed and with a lick of dark hair over her brow.
A copy of her death certificate gives the same birth date.
She was found at home by a relative on March 12 and had died from "gunshot wounds to the head, with burns", said the document, signed by doctor Wael Habib and a registrar.
No independent verification of the documents was immediately available.
Former private Steven Green, who has been charged as a civilian, and four US soldiers have been charged with rape and murder in a case that has outraged Iraqis. They could face the death penalty.
Another soldier was charged with dereliction of duty for not reporting the crime in March.
All five were charged with conspiring with Green, who is accused by US prosecutors of going with three others to a house near the checkpoint they were manning outside Mahmudiya, near Baghdad, and killing a couple and their two daughters.
The sexual nature of the allegations has caused outrage across Iraq, a country where many have become otherwise inured to daily horror. Rape is a taboo subject among Iraqi Muslims and surviving members of Abeer's family are said to be so ashamed by what happened that they buried her in an unmarked grave.
US military officials initially blamed insurgents for the deaths of the four Iraqi civilians. But according to a 10-page federal affidavit filed last week, Green and other soldiers from the 502nd Infantry Regiment allegedly carried out the attacks on March 12, before covering up their crimes.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has voiced anger over the incident, which is one of a growing list of alleged atrocities committed by US troops. He wants a review of whether they should be exempt from prosecution under Iraqi law.
Abeer's 34-year-old father, Qasim Hamza Rasheed al-Janabi, whose five-year-old ID card picture shows a slim, dark man with a moustache, was a labourer who died of a "smashing of the head due to gunshot wounds", his death certificate said. His wife, Fakhriya Taha Muheisin al-Janabi, was 43 when she died of "several wounds". Two sons, 13 and 10, survived because they were absent from the house.

LOL ...everything is Bushes fault, what a noob, he really hates Bush. He is right that not all the soilders are outstanding citizens and what would make anyone think so is beyond me. that being said i read a few articles that said they were pressured into saying they did it, but who knows that is why they have trials.
