It actually launches quite straight. The front is a little "light", but the fun begins when you shift. It's a reverse manual valvebody C6, and when shifting into 2nd under power it has a tendency to make a left turn. As long as you're aware of it, you can steer thru it. I have a fresh "soft" locker waiting on the bench with a set of 3.00s to soften the hit.
Thanks for the compliment. Ask Toni (Bonneville Baby) how it rides. :D

I think I counted 9 crackers, 8 of which got wet in 2 heats of 4....Gordy and the K69, the K8, SS7, SS28, a narrow biezer potato chip boat,(which was 1 of only 2 made, and the only one remaining) Blown hemi hydro, blown Ford JET,(that sounded damm good on the trailer, for you Ford guys). I gotta hand it to the Crackerbox people, a real good showing, all of one side of "boat row" was full of crackers. (Ran into Jeff, Amy Ross' future husband, due to tie the knot here real soon, congrats to those two down to earth young people!) Hollywood Larry hamilton and his dad, And Tony Scarlatta, who "got the ride of his life" while driving Gordy's "Freedom". (Gordy told me the boat "kinda drives it's self, and Tony concured). Mr. Rankin, but without his new boat, And "some guy" that had a video camera in his face once the boats hit the water, K50 Wayne, wishing he had the "Cold Fire" in So Cal.......Jim Laricca without his PS boat, Mike Lee without the 89 just sluming in So cal for the weekend, and taking care of some business while he was here.......It was great to see so many actual race teams out for this event, it was like walking through the pits at a race. Gordy said he would be back in June, so mark your calanders for the NEXT event at Irvine Lake, keeping the ***boat spirit alive. Thanks Dave, and the staff of Irvine Lake, for hosting another fun day. Bikers, boaters, and cars and trucks of all shapes and sizes, And you know what, everyone just had fun!! ..............Ray

My son and his favorite racer. He told me on the way home... "Dad, that isnt the real Tony Scarlata, it is just a guy who looks like him, huh?" :) I think after watching Tony on TV so much, he thinks he is only on TV or something.

It was a fun day, 'cept I had a frickin flat tire on the way home in the '41.lol
I loved this boat below. I really loved the sound of it with the 180 degree headers, which were built by the way, by Smokey Yunick many years ago.
I talked to the owner for about half an hour. He was an old K boat racer from 25+ years ago and raced and knew my old boss who also ran a K boat back then. This was one of 2 boats custom built Rusty Beisemeyer and this guy ( I can't remember his name) has owned this one since new. If you look in the picture you can see how much freeboard was removed when compared to other B boats. Bare hull weight is 270 lbs.
He didn't say where the sister boat to this boat was/is.
And of course it's driver Sat. was another old K boat driver from days past, Tom Stolarz, the founder of Warlock boats, who hadn't been in the cockpit of a B boat is almost 18 years.
I had a blast talking to some of the old timers, along with seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new ones too.
Lots of crackers, which is always cool. :)

Nice seeing who I saw out there, I didnt stay to long, just watched all the boats run and snapped a few pics. I love going to these shin digs so close to home. Just wish us jet guys could get some water time. Here is a picture of the only jet there.....

Didnt
sound half bad on the trailer like monypit said. I did hear Jetboatguru say "who invited this guy" thought that was funny.

Tim, did you catch the second heat? all the boats ran twice. I was about to leave, but then Jim Wilkes told me they were running again around 2-3.

Well Chad "SeriousIssues" got it a while back from a guy out here that had it for a long time(probably the old guy in the pic??) and from what I heard Stevie got it back from Chad!.. Maybe Steve bought it from Stevie??????...

Just wanted to thank Gordy and Katie for tossing me the keys to Freedom and letting me take her for a spin. That boat is bad ass and a tribute to Lance and Bill Faulkner for building an amazing boat. Jim's boat looked real good. Had a great time at Irvine with all the usual suspects. Nice to meet your son Dmonszta but the picture looks like I have a gun to his back. This would not go over well with the Aryan Nation. :)
Thanks to Dave N for putting on this deal and giving us a place to run our boats. These places are dwindling in numbers and it is nice to see somebody stepping up to help out the crazy ***boaters.

I think he was just a little nervous, I was really shocked he took the pic with you. He is VERY shy, he passed up the opportunity to go on the floor and meet Kobe Bryant and the rest of the LA Lakers, so you should feel honored. :D

Tell Bun Bun I said hello. Tell Katie that I appreciate her patience and not chewing her fingernails completely off. I realize that K69 has much sentimental value and it was a priveledge to drive it. I would have gone past half throttle but I didn't want to make the King look bad!
