I was heading back from the cabin today at 4 PM and came through some damn hard hail. I came to a stop in the highway and went about 4 mph for about 1/2 mile before I could get off the road. I thought for sure that the paint on my truck was wasted as hard at it was hitting and I was stopped.
Lasted about 10 minutes and we were on the way again. Checked the hood and roof in Payson and all was good. Storm was heading West/Nortwest.
Good thing I stopped, or I'm sure that my paint would be toast on the truck.
Went from 90 degrees to 52 degrees in a matter of 3 minutes.
Edit: Just watched the local news, and watching the track of that storm, the one I was in was the one that spawned the tornado. Makes sense with the rapid temp change and heavy hail.

Well.....
If Saturdays monsoon wasn't bad enough......
We drove into another monsoon on I-40 tonight just about midway between Needles & Ludlow......
It was just about 8:00pm when we hit it.....
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes......
Right between the East & West lanes, traveling West, in the middle of the road, was this huge horizontal rolling wave of water.....basically a horizontal tornado !!!!
I bet it was 100'x100' in size....
It was staying right with us at 70 MPH.....
We slowed down as the rain hit hard and visability went to zero.....
Then this rolling "Barrel" of rain cuts right across the road on top of us....
I would estimate the wind to be 80+ MPH.....
It was like being right under a microburst.....Unbelievable !!!
It actually sped up and pulled away from us, then vanished straight up into the air.......
My wife and I just stared at each other in disbelief.....
Thank GOD this weekend's over.....
"There's no place like home.......(click-click)......!!!!!
Nite-nite....

Several years ago I got in one of those on I-40. Everyone stopped dead. Hammered the truck so hard with hail had to repaint the whole thing (hail removed the paint). Looked like snow on the ground as far as you could see. Monsoons are nothing to fock with and carry some serious wind not to mention flash floods out of nowhere.

sorry dog
