How big is Summersville lake?

shirkey4750
07-18-2006, 02:02 PM
Berry, it is 259 mi by mapquest, and it shows the best route.
As for size it is not a big lake and it is narrow. It can get very rough at times, but there are a couple of nice no wake zones that are very large. As for beauty, it is hard to beat. There are three launch areas and two camp sites, The major campground is booked solid on the weekends. Type in Summersville Lake and there is plenty of information. There are several nice motels and shopping centers nearby.
From Richmond it would be all 4 lane. I 64,81,64,77,Rt 19.

mikes280,
Do you usually run on Lake Norman? Anywhere in particular? I've seen a couple of Velocity's up here on the north end above the 150 bridge on occasion. Just wondered if it wuz you. I'm over near the airport kinda off the end of the runway in a cove near Stumpy Creek access.

Dave my first boat was a rayson craft
That's interesting! Tell me more about it. Was it around here? I'm always interested to find out what's happened to the Raysons in this area.
If you see this thing running around (or hear it coming....) it's me.

Mike, next time you plan a trip up this way, let us know and some of the locals will head that way. A lot of the boats hang out in the no wake cove above the first bridge. Several larger performance boats in the area.
