Boat chop or wind chop or both? Hey dmontzsta, do you think I would get hasseled for noise with the turbos out there on a weekend? I've been there during the week without any problems.

dmontzsta
07-18-2006, 09:26 AM
Turbos are actually pretty quiet. I would just stay away from West Marina. Launch at Cranes or Weekend Paradise right next door, they do not check shit. Then the only thing you have to worry about is the boat patrol, but they seem to stay on the sides of the lake. Stay towards the middle and you are fine...but I think you might pass a db test.

dmontzsta, is it possible to make a few quick blasts with zoomies on the weekends? ever seen anyone get a ticket out there for noise? i have been on the lake with non muffled headers, but never tried the zoomies yet......

You can get away with it, if you get there before 8am. The cops are usually on the water in between 8-9am. Dave Sammons was out there running some drag boats with zoomies really early one morning, probably around 7am and had no problems. Just make sure you launch at Cranes, cause they do not look at the boats. You basically go inside and pay.

You are just a wanna be. I have logged over 1500 engine hours on Lake Elsinore - and did that in 2 years (1998-1999). I missed a total of 5 days in 1998 on the lake.
I was the self proclaimed defender of Elsinore for a while. F-that. Let the ignorant people think the lake is dirty because it is geting too crowded these days anyways. Infact..didn't they just shut the lake down for the 10th time this year because of bacteria levels? I think someone actually died...just ask the deductive reasoning expert ParkerDreamin. He read article about someone dying from a bacterial infection and it came to light that the person had been at Lake Elsinore a week before. Everyone should stay away.

Well I dont know if it is really worth fighting over who goes more...cause it is like saying "I live in a more ghetto place than you!" - "No I do" - "No I do". But I can tell you I average about 2 trips per month (all year round) and have been going with my Dad for about the last 11 years straight. um....you live in mo valley. You win!!!
Besides, Elsinore is a puss filled bacteria sess pool. Anyone who goes there will die a horrible death, then maggots will eat their body. And what the maggots don't get, the catfish will. Then, some local will catch the catfish and fry it up and eat what ever is left of your remains from the catfish's stomach. And then, you will be pooped out and flushed into elsinore where you will float into Coors light cove, and people will step on you and not know they stepped in poop and think you are just part of the yucky bottom.

:D I am just having fun with the people who think the lake is dirty - as in a health risk. Now, I will agree, that the lake can be gross at times, stinky, and dead fish are not something you like to see. But, people don't realize it is one of very few natural lakes in CA, and a shallow lake with minerals that promote algea growth. The algea blooms and removes oxygen out of the water causing the fish to suffocate. The algea on the surface is gross, sometimes hard to clean and can give off a foul stench. But, the algea keeps the lake one of the cleanest lakes in CA based on bacteria levels...you know, the stuff that actually makes you sick. I have never seen Elsinore shut down for bacteria levels, unlike Lake Perris that gets shut down a few times a year. Or, even Canyon Lake (where I live).....Canyon Lake was shut down for over 4 months due to bacteria that came from overflowing septic tanks in Quail valley during the big rains a year and a half ago. Canyon Lake is the filter for Elsinore.
But in reality ;), Elsinore is a death trap!!!! Stay away!!! Far away!!! Run away!!! And there are no hot blondes in pasties and g's with 12vers at Cole's. It really is RD in a bunny suit with a 12ver of Fresca!!! It is the 7th level of Hell!!!!!!!

Cole

Algea is what keeps the water oxigenated and clean....so the stuff that looks nasty is what actually cleans the water. There is GREAT fishing in the lake big mouth bass and catfish. There is little algea this year but as the water heats up it will start to grow. Frank is right Lake Elsinore is a natural lake is the cleanest in southern cal.
There is a cool history with the lake and the city that dates back to the 1800s.

You might have a problem with zoomies at 6:00am lol....some of the old retired folks might have a heart attach. Your better off mid morning and make sure the LEs are on the other side of the lake. We might need a lookout of sorts. What kind of boat? Do you need glassey water?

Also if you are just testing you might want to consider mid week....no speed limit and little or no LEs!!

Speaking of algae....
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1799DSCN0509-2.jpg
Earlier this year, ***boat was doing a photo shoot with some models and I took my boat down. The wind was blowing into West Marina and the algea was thick. I thought it was an oportune time to demonstrate how slick the algea was by slipping on the ramp and landing on my head in about 1 ft of water only to emerge looking like the lock ness monster covered in algea head to toe. The models thought it was quite sexy and I had to dash their dreams and tell them I was happily married with 3 kids. :D

Several manufacturers use the Elsinore HB photos in the marketing material. Look at the Essex adds and several others and you will see that the water is an unusually clear blue. Then look closely near the edges of the boat, peoples faces, etc. and you will see a "halo" of green that wasn't colored out!
Takes me about an hour & a half to get the green off, but when you live 10 minutes from the ramp, it's worth it.

A fast way to get the green off is to use lake water to re-wet it. If I wipe down right when I pull the boat out, I have no issues. The green on the trailer eventually goes away as the green in the algea is no light stable and will disappear over time if you didn't get it off.

Get rid of the switch....buy some fittings to run both tanks together..My first boat was a 19" sleekcraft jet..that damn crossover switch left me stranded ONCE...nothing worse than being out of gas, when one tank is still half full...

That's what I said . I have both into a tee and since the driver side has the gage and drains quicker , I know when to head back to the marina.

Make sure you run equal length lines from both tanks or the one with the shorter line will empty faster.

On the left would be Marina West. Coors cove is on the right side right in the middle of the lake you see a little piece of land that comes out...it is the little top piece of that cove.

Left the water at about 4:00 then went to a BBQ in Canyon Lake...Hung out in the cove and met some new friends..also caught up with Beerjet and ran into Cole when I was pulling out at Cranes, he is almost right next door. Next time will go a little earlier to get the better water in the morning...

There were a couple of cops out, but they did not seem to bother anyone. launching at Cranes is easy. The lady at the office was super nice, and you get to use their beach area too if you like. I did not notice the Bar open or closed. We got there about 10am, parking was close to full, so next time I will go a little earlier just in case..

I was out on Saturday Morning at 7AM out of Elsinore West. Met a fellow board member who I took for a test ride in the Campbell.
Ran around for a tad. Dropped by Coors light cove at about 8AM and parked on the nice sandy beach at the point. I had my 3 and 5 year olds with me. We pulled the boat out by 9AM.
Ramp was f'n slick right at the waters edge. I have to get a bucket of dirt in order to get out.
Had an 2wd Avalanch full of brothers on the other side of the dock. They were f'n hillarious. The driver was flooring it and was on the rev limiter trying to get their trailer out of the water. He was throwing a one legger rooster tail that landed way past the end of the dock and completely drenched their boat. He finally went with the bucket o' dirt to get out.

So did the cops seem cool about loud boats, etc, and what time did the cops arrive at the lake?
Thanks.

No issue with the ramp at Cranes..West Marina always gets like that with the algae..good place for Launch ramp skiing..lol..Cops were cool, I saw several low profile jet boats with over the transoms, even a couple with Blowers too..I did several laps around the lake at a good pace..no problem..saw some big boats 28-34' running hard around the lake...and you could hear them with twin big blocks...

The ramps at this time of year typically only have problems with algea at the water line. Below the water line is no problem. But the water line and about the next foot or so is the problem right now. If the ramp is asphalt, little to no problem.
Earlier in the season when the algea is in a growth stage, it gets dangerous below the waterline. I am just going to carry a bucket of sand/Dirt with me and put it down regardless.
