I've had great luck with a Garmin 76c. All the features I could ask for and more. A little pricier than most but its color and comes with some good basic maps.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 350, it is portable can be moved from car to car or boat. I am really impressed with it, I would recommend it.

Are the marine maps different than the street ones or is it all the same. I would like to have waterway maps of lakes and the california delta....

Does water and street maps, upgradeable memory and very mobile...everything anyone could need. Did the research last year, and more were happy with Garmin than Magellan.

Also, if you or someone you know is good with the online download community, we got all the maps we needed from the internet.
Garmin is super-intuitive (just a hand-ful of buttons does it all).
