I stumbled upon this in the Tulare County Area. Definately needs alot of work but one of you guys may be looking for such a project...
Motor is NOT in working condition. 427 Chevy with a "possible" broken rod. No windows in the block..
Owner was asking $3K...

Too bad, sitting nose down, you can also see the delamination near the tank in the floor, I know, I'm part of the Hondo and Sanger search and rescue team, and if I rescue any more my wife said I may need to find a new search and rescue headquarters. :p :)

Where in Tulare County was this?
My friend took me to this place out in podunkville were this guy lived in a delapidated shack with this boat sitting next to it. It was about 10 minutes west of the 5 Fwy and Main St. in the city of Tulare. I'll try to get more specifics about the where and who if you are interested. I'd like to see someone bring this thing back to life. I would consider it but I've got my hands full pouring money into my K boat. :rollside:

I-5 or 99? Tulare is off the 99. I was just courious where the boat was. I used to have a Hondo Sprint and I'm always looking. Although, if i drug that thing home my wife would kick me right in the junk.
Thanks,
Mike

I could be interestred in buying it, or at least taking a good look at it and some measurements. My buddy has a 79 just like it and is trying to figure out how to set it up.

It could be a nice boat! "Byers Flat" don't let your buddy copy any "rigging tips" from this boat! The motor is so far back, it's ready to jump out of the 'back window'. I also don't think this boat was rigged at Hondo, it's got 'low dollar' hex cross shaft cavitation stuff. Hondo always used the good stuff. With this "set up" it's a nice taxi, but a lousey flat boat. Does it at least have a split case CASALE, or is all the hardware out of an old tuna boat?

Unless your buddy is setting up a 50mph family type ski boat forget about that setup period!..

Ur right it is the 99. That road is so boring to drive i forget it becomes the 99 after the Grapevine. I need to get in touch with my friend who lives up there for directions because it is literally in "no mans land". About your wife, do what I do and just buy her something she likes in exchange for your new toy and all will be forgiven.

It does have a split case casale in it but I'm sure it needs to be gone through. I just had my first experience on the cost of a casale rebuild and it is pretty ugly to say the least...

As I am acting as a 3rd party, I have set up a couple of people to go up there but I can't seem to get any feedback on what has been happening. I'll try to get some info and PM you.

No, he is a friend who said he would help facilitate the meetings with the owner. I CAN'T get him to return my calls. (flake!! :crossx: ) Next time I talk to him I'll try to get the owners name, address and phone number.
