Bought a jet boat from my neighbor but not sure of the manufaturer. It has full stringers with parkey floors, the pump is set back and is a tunnel.I found some cracking in the bottom and wondering if its worth fixing. The AZ registration says 78 ski & bass.I can e-mail pics if someone can post. Thanks Scott

I saw a pic in hot boat of the back of a placecraft that looked similar but with a few differances.I wanted something to run in the river and was told the tunnel hull should work.

How bad are the cracks in the bottom?

Looks like 3/4" styrofoam board capped with a thin layer of glass to bottom. That seam is starting to crack but not seperated.(Yet)Thinking of grinding it clean and reglassing.

Take the first three letters of the hull ID number and go check HERE (http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_database.htm) . That will give you the name of the manufacturer.

You will for sure scare fish right out of the water with that "fish and ski" boat.

CFZ........California homemade boats?
Just means the state assigned a new ID number to it. Many reasons for that, one of which is that it may have been laid up as a "race-only" hull and therefore never had a HIN. Is there any indication that there was a HIN stamped into the right side of the transom?

No #'s on hull.Got the hull ID off the AZ registration card.

This is strictly one of those "I wonder..." things, but I wonder if the hardware for the rideplate adjusters is mounted over the original HIN? I recall this "possibility" being brought up before although in regards to a v-drive.
Curious, but what does it say in the inset of the transom adaptor?

I'll pull the plates tomorrow and take a peek.Inset says "The Eliminater"

Not really saying you will find anything, just saw it suggested once before.....
I thought that's what it said. Somewhere out there a Daytona is missing a transom adapter.....

Totally uneducated guess here. I'll go with the Mach 1. The pod on the back has me scratching my head. I don't remember ever seeing one on a PlaceCraft and even if they had a pod, the deck and especially the back part where the deck slopes down to meet the transom doesn't look like any PlaceCrafts I've seen.
Hopefully someone knows what it is for sure. I'm curious now.
One thing's for sure...........she looks like a keeper.
Is it an optical illusion, or is the weight of the boat on the pod. If so, I'd be a little nervous about that. Seems like that's right about where the old Southwind tunnels used to crack.
I don't see any gaping holes from the inside pictures so the cracks must not be too bad. I repaired some cracks in my Kachina this past winter. It turned out nice n strong (probably stronger than when it came out of the mold).

Sometimes there's another hin# hidden somewhere in the boat. Look over the inside very carefully. Budlight

Pretty darn close, other than the fuel Hemi and all the rigging.
The pod is shorter.
Who lays up the Mach 1 hull?

Looks like a placecraft to me, but to confirm why don't you pm placecraft22, or call Placecraft (626) 442-9793 and talk to Ron or Scott. If it is a placecraft, I'm sure they could advise you on how to fix your crack.

Your boat does resemble a Mach 1. The pod on my Mach 1 was shortened and the outside runners were lowered by Greg Shoemaker a few years back. Recently I had the keel reshaped and the bottom straitened by Jeff Bennett.
The more power you can throw at this hull the better.

Here is an original "Mach 1 Boats" ad that Cas sent me a while back

Thank's evryone for your help.Sounds like there are'nt a bunch of these hulls around. And with haveing to move the pump and reconfigure the bottom I can see why. Should have the bottom repairs done this weekend and start looking for a BBC.

My hull was made in 1980 and the first three letters of the HIN are HTB.
This list (http://state.ak.us/dmv/dealer/pdfs/babmak.pdf) shows HTB as Mach 1 Boats.
