Weather permitting we will be having a pot luck and Barrel BBQ (No Sangster, not barrel racing :D )
on New Years Day to try and get everybody together. We will be under the large Yellow EZ-up with the Motherlode***boats sign. Everyone is welcome and it would help if people would sign up and let us know what is being brought.

There were at least 200 boats in "2000"..But it was a beautiful day in the high 70s & the ground was dry.. Last year there was maybe 100 boats..There was light rain in the A.M., in the 60s & the ground was wet..The weather seems to have a lot to do with it....Don't ask me why... :confused: :confused: :confused:

Here's a CFW report I found while snooping around the local fishing boards..It's also a good bass fishin'lake..
Report: Went to this lake as it has been good to me in the past few falls. NO WATER, and I don't mean low, I mean NO WATER. It looks like a river. The manager at the check in said that it had not been this low in 11 years and the oweners were still selling water to the farmers. Perhaps the oweners can put up a marked course and have race boat tourn. and jet ski competition when it refills, since I would imagine most of the fish will be dead. Greed, I think I'm done now.

Latest report that I got was lake has 35 to 40 feet of water in it. That would leave the cove high and dry for now.....
Hope we get a few storms up here soon!

Sangster, They have not made boat launch improvements, nor do I expect them to ever. The "Launch ramp" is actually a road that heads from 1 side of the lake to the other. Good thing is, is there is always a ramp no matter how low the water....

North Shore is open. The launch ramp is actually a road that goes clear across the lake so no issues with launching. I did pass a PU with a big barrel BBQ heading out there....maybe someones partying out there tonight.
Oh yeah, in case anyones interested, the racing fuel at that little gas station in Wheatland was at $4.29 gallon today

Ya know, that one shot from what looks like in the South Campgrounds shows a portion of what looks like the lake & off to the right is the rocky spot then it drops off to the water..It was like that 2 years ago,remember all that dirt area was solid boats & tow rigs..If they can get a few more feet it won't be to bad... Last year there was more water but it was raining & the lake had a lot of debris/branches everywhere..Has there ever been water in the cove this time of year....

I'm willing to go out on new years, no matter where. CFW, Berryessa, don't matter. I'll bring 2 boats...no worries. But, the water level is what will dictate if I get the boats wet. I ain't got a problem BBQing and sitting on the shore fishin'

Keep prayin everybody! Nice to go up and check it out and then post the pics for us BBT. There is another thread by Guru that talks about plan B - I think thats great, but it was discussed awhile back too and I think the diehards are still going to hit CFW regardless, its tradition.
Unless we get the word out to everybody, it will be split and not half the success. Just my .02

Yeah, I kinda felt that way too. Although they are about the same distance away for me, I never have cared much for the water at Berryessa (maybe it could have something to do with me rolling a pickup 150' down a canyon at Berryessa a few years back???)
CFW is my "hangout" spot and I tend to think that is where I'll be.

Ok, Back tracking a bit. I said in this thread (and the Plan B thread) that I wouldn't put a boat on the water at CFW with the water levels that are there now. since then, I've seen Plan B (Berryessa) Plan C (Modesto) and a few other suggestions. I like CFW....No hassles by the law EVER there for me and I've been run outta just about everywhere else and dangit, I'm going to CFW New Years.....Water or not. But, back to the top..(sorry 'bout gettin' sidetracked), just to prove that it really is do-able, I have changed my mind once again, and instead of heading to the river with my boat today, I'M HEADING TO CFW! Naturally, I'll have the Mrs. take a camera for some water level pics....

Since their already with you that would be easiest...CFW is a tradition that we never miss rain or shine. If I remember last year everyone was worried about the water level and it ended up just fine. Yes, pretty low but you could still run. Have faith people. We can help with things again this year. :) wink :cool:

We will be there New Years eve day thru the 1st. Sanger Pickle (No Control) and MH. It will be a great boat show on the water or on the shore ! Will people be on N. or S. ramp area ?

We'll be there of course. Not sure yet how many boats now though. Tore down an engine today.
her454, I took the 30th and 31st off so if ya need someone to go down and hold a spot for the potluck/BBQ, give a yell. I think the Mrs is gonna take them days off also.
We just purchased a new camcorder for the New Years event. May go out to CFW next weekend and "practice" (using the camcorder that is :rolleyes: )

Let me know when the time comes. Just checked out your web page, great pictures. I was at Puta Creek for a get togeather in may of 2001, was my first trip there, very nice aria and lots of fast boats, was fun watching them run all weekend. Im sure CFW will be simalar and probley some of the same boats. :)

CFW is definitely the place to be for fast boats. It's always been my favorite.

Hey, hud here new to the board. Just talk to Gary at CFW 10 mins. ago and he said the water came up 8 ft. from the 1st storm. It's low but there's anuff water to run.
Gary's had a bad year at CFW and he hopes everyone shows on the 1st. He's cooking chile!!

Flyte Risk almost took me out on the last turn for the victory. The quarter mile drag was a different story though.

ok, back to the food... ALSO, we need some help as to where we can set up the bbq barrels etc. WHO is getting there early, as in maybe the night before that can reserve us some space fairly close to the action.. eek! ?? Motherlode***boats will have a large ez up, 2 barrels and a couple of tables for food. The meat cooks itself in the barrels (about 2 hours) and its fantastic so if you have meat you'd like to throw in them we'll start them about 11:00 am. Extra tables are welcomed......... :D :D
