How many degrees does a good diverter travel up? I mean good as in big spray and good distance without too much loss of speed. Thanks guys

We are seeing about 10 feet tall with minimal speed loss. When its knocking down airplanes you can feel the 10mph drop and see the speed go down on the gps......

Im messing around with y panther jet and am not sure how many degrees the nozzle should tilt up from the drive housing, i want to go high but i also don;t want to waste my time and make it go straigt up or something. Right now im thinking somewhere around 30 degrees Does anybody know how mch thiers travels?

Here ya go. Hope this helps...
First pic with diverter all the way down, next two pics with it 1 click from the top. Won't stay in the top notch on its own, the selector is kinda wore out...But you get the idea, points up pretty damn high...

if i remember correctly, a place has somewhere around 20 degrees of total travel.
In relation to the keel i would think 8-10 degrees of up nozzle should throw some serious tail.If you want a fat rooster tail, get a place diverter and you will be all set.

I remember reading that 20* was the magic #. Not sure how accurate that is, but looks about right.
CS you beat me to it.

I just bought mine in june and the and if I remember it came with a card that said a 4' roost was ideal but all boats are diffrent , some boats like it all the way up . mine doesnt . A huge roost never hurt anyone I know though. It did help mine alot though in all aspects

Thanks for the pics guys. I was figuring somewhere around 30 but yalls look to be around 20 so that should give me plenty of tail. Makes it a lot easier to make this thing too. I let you know how it turns it in a few months.

One of the previous owners must have, cause I haven't touched it. Also, when I called Place a little while back checking on that nozzle O-ring, the guy brought that up. Asked me if it was a manual or hydraulic diverter. When I told him manual, he said some people would grind that top edge out to get more travel. (don't know what would make that possible on one & not the other) If you grind to much, he said it would be prone to blowing that O-ring outta there. Here is a couple of pics of the top of it, you can see what was ground away. http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/2812nozzle1.jpg

Hell, no problem. When you take the nozzle off, you'll see the groove where that teflon O-ring sits. That should give you an idea how much to grind off & be safe. My O-ring was bad, but not due to that. Ought to make a difference. Guy at the Plowman gathering didn't believe me when I told him it was just diverter after seein the tail it would throw, until he went & seen for himself! :crossx:
