So I buy a house in havasu............it has speakers in every room with individual controls. The prior owner had his speakers hooked up to his TV via cable and played music off of Direct TV. So.....I want to hook up my stereo to the speakers........but there is only a cable line coming out of the wall.....how do I convert the cable line to speaker line? There are two cable type hookups......one is for TV and I'm assuming the other is for the speakers.

There has to be a home run for all of the speakers in the house. HD with tivo takes 2 cables...Probably goes from the wall, into your sat/cable box, rca's from box to your receiver, from your receiver to a speaker selector(if has volume controls in rooms), and from speaker selector to your speakerwires connecting your rooms..
If you have touch panel controls in each room, you likely have a cat5 home run somewhere...
Here's pic of a homerun for whole house audio and control I did a couple weeks ago..

10 pr speakers and 2 cat5 to each room for keypad control.. Ran 2 to each pad in case 1 got kinked in the run.. No fun to repair after house is done
Here's the HDSatellite home run

6 from sat LNB, and 1 pr to each of the 7 tv locations. HD sat with tivo needs 2 runs per box... This has since been replaced with a 50" control centerthat whill house a Spaun amplified sat distribution and router for the home netork...

Nice install.........
Now...........what the hell does a cat5 homerun look like? Underneath the TV area is some wires coming out of the wall.......but they look like power type wires (black, red, green etc) wrapped into a white cable wrap.
I'm missing something..........shouldn't all this be close to the entertainment area so you are able to hook everything up to the your equipment??
