Still can't decide. Stayed at River Palms this w/e. Got to room on Fri., A/C had been off all day, so it was maybe a few degrees cooler in the room than it was outside. Then, about 11:00 pm, some idiot came pounding on the door, while I was down stairs. My son calls me on the cell, to tell me I need to hurry back. I run back, and the guy had left. Turns out he was drunk, and thought it was his room and his buddies had locked him out. Freaked out my family.
The hotel made it right, though. Only charged us $10.00 for the room!
I think their boat parking is pretty good. Riverside has great boat parking, too, but it's become a flea bag of a hotel. Flamingo parking sucks.

Harrahs is nice, but sucks for gambling and is spendy. I agree with you on the Riverside. It does have everything, just old and run down.
Try Harrahs, its really preference and trial and error.....
Good luck

Pioneer hotel!!
Great boat parking with security.
I can get a water front suite with wet bar double size room that opens to the beach for $95.00 bucks.
Private beach and close to the casino.
Its old school and very small...but thats why I like it!!!!

We stayed at the Pioneer once and it had been raining. There was a leak in the ceiling so one of the beds was wet and the rain was still coming down. We called the front desk so they came up and put a bucket on the bed. Nice fix.

Never stay in the hotels but the Nugget has new ownership and just put in a Joes Crab Shack and a Harlows steakhouse. They also have the nightclub Tarzans (I think a different name now) which is a lot nicer than the Losers Lounge.
The Ramada seems to have a pretty pleasant staff working there.
Riverside is filthy but fun to gamble in.

Yeah, I'm thinking your accomodations are pretty nice there!
I hadn't heard about the Nugget's ownership change. How's the boat parking there? Which casino you like playing the best? Seems like I've had the most fun at Flamingo, although it's nothing special.

Had no problem parking Friday or Saturday night. And that was for 4 boats.
FWIW, the Flamingo is under new ownership as well. They are planning a $40 million renovatioin from what we were told.

That will be a good thing. Hope they start that soon. Last couple of years, they've gone to this deal where they don't quarantee rooms. You can reserve a room, but they don't quarantee it will be what you requested - non-smoking, King or 2 queens, etc.

I always park in the Pioneers lot and walk over. Probably the best place to park a boat. I don't think you would want to take your boat into the parking structure at the Nugget. They may have some other parking but I don't know about it.
I like to gamble in the Ramada and the Riverside. It seems to more of a gambling atmosphere. I won't gamble in the Flamingo anymore as they told me I could not sit/stand at the table with my Skoal. Shit, it took them 1 hour to notice I was even chewing. They told me they would have to call in a toxic cleanup crew if I spilt it. ****ing idiots! All the while I have drunks all around me smoking and spilling beers on the table. Morons! It used to be my favorite place to go but no more.
Harrahs is the cleanest of all the casinos in Laughlin.

Based on what we saw, they have started on it already. Hopefully it will be as nice as it was when it first opened.
Forgot to mention, also heard come September 1 the Flamingo will be completely non-smoking. Not quite sure how much truth there is to that as it flies in the face of logic for casino operations.
BTW, Havasu sucks! Right Tom? :rollside:

Harrahs, by far. Very open. The south and Central tower are the best. The North tower is where the babies sleep. The North rooms seem to have alot more abuse. We went in the Nugget and the damn ceilings are too low. I need Space.

It is a smaller place and the staff is great. I don't know how the ownership change will affect it but so far so good. I am upset they took out Janes Grill though. That place was great. Parking is right across the street with plenty of room and I think it is patrolled. I have never heard of any problems. Plus it is smaller which I like. Talk to Mary at the front desk. She is from Detroit and very helpful. Also Conrad at the back bar has a heavy hand. I'll be there this weekend.

Stayed at the Flamingo this past week. The boat parking is $15.00 a night and it’s first come first serve. We didn’t have to much of a problem. It’s just that the parking spots are real narrow so I anticipate fenders getting clipped. We survived without a scratch. :D
The Flamingo was sold to an outfit called A.C.E. (I forgot what it stands for) The Flamingo will be gutted and renamed “Aquarius” or “The Aquarium” …all the pink will be removed and all new carpet will be installed and the design will be re-done. The main bar will be removed and a smaller, round bar will be installed with a HUGE aquarium in the center. There will supposedly be some water falls etc. put in the front. Every room is supposed to have a make-over as well…There have already been some lay-offs… :( But the casino/hotel has seen better days.
According to the dealer we were speaking with, the “skeleton” building down river is being torn down and a huge condo-complex will be built there…where the Emerald River golf course was too. There is a new Marina at the edge of town down river and has "indoor stacking boat storage" and is $30.00 to launch at...I would assume that if you store your boat there the launch is free.
Looks like some money is being dumped into the little town.
…………. means more “lice” on the water too.

I have had good luck at the Ramada, nice celan rooms, GREAT steakhouse, good boat parking and a decent price. I think the rooms at Harrahs are a little nicer (not much) but you have to pay additional for boat parking and the rooms are more expensive, plus it is out of the way, Harrahs is centeraly located.

Seems everytime I've stayed at Ramada I end up with a room that faces the sewer treatment plant.......smells like poop..LOL
Used to like the Buffet there but its gone downhill seriously. Wife always liked the rooms at Flamingo, be interesting to see what its like after the remodel/renaming.
Riverside was always convenient because of its multiple amenities, average at best rooms(especially the old tower).

I thought the boat looked familiar. He was running with someone else up to cottonwood area messing up my water as we were floating in the middle of the lake. It was awesome! Where is Owl Cove? Were you floating also?

Owl Cove is North of Cottonwood. We were running back from the dam when I saw them floating in the middle of the lake.

We used to stay at the Colorado "smell" but just got tired of going through the maze to find our room, plus the swamp coolers SUCK! We now stay at the River Palms. I can't beat the 7-10 day room comps. they give me for the 2 trips a year we make. We also like the boat parking, 10 bucks a night on the weekends, 24 hour guard and easy to get to. Although, with the new ownership they have, the hostess' are telling me alot of things are changing, so we may be looking elsewhere.

North is which way on the lake? I know dumb question. Out of Cottonwood marina, left or right? You probably passed us also.. and churned up the smooth water I was enjoying also...

Last few times I was at Harrahs the rooms were dumpy. Wife just got back from River Palms with her parents and she said it was dumpy. Pioneer is the worst. The Belle is a dump. Flamingo used to be dumpy too so I hope they fix it up nice. Ramada is the best of the bunch for rooms and boat parking, but its still not that great. Never stayed at the GN so that may be a nicer place.
Used to love the wood-fired Pizza and cheap CL pitchers at Jane's Grill at the GN but they took it out :(
Pasaggio at Ramada used to be pretty good but I have not been in a while. Harrahs buffet is hit and miss but probably the best on the river. The steak house at Harrahs and Colorado Bell are pretty good but they are pricey.
Oh ya....F Mohave and F Laughlin :D

I haven't been to Laughlin in almost two years but I usually stayed at Harrahs. I think it is the cleanest hotel on the strip. Do not gamble there no matter how bad you get tempted. I've never walked out a happy. The other casino's are fun and I've had pretty good luck at all of them.
Once & only once, I stayed at the Riverside. What a dump. There were cockroaches in the lobby! We hung our luggage etc. It does have a fun / interesting bar.

Harrahs sucks donkey balls... I've been staying at Harrahs for years but the last 3 or 4 times have sucked big time... You can have a reservation all taken care of a month in advance but when you get there you have to fight to get the room that you reserved. It's the same story lately, we book a non-smoking room with two beds (kids), you get there it's like "Ummmm... Well.... We only have a smoking room with one bed, sorry".. I just want to get what I reserved and at Harrahs you're lucky to show up on a Friday night and get what you asked for, you have to make a big stink in order for them to give you your room ... Harrahs used to be this "younger" crowd type of place, but they're all the same, plus it's too far from the other casinos. I'm done with the S-hole... I've had some good times at the Riverside, Ramada and believe it of not the Pioneer, good boat parking and security..The Belle isn't that bad since they added the micro brew years ago.. I need to check out the Nugget....

I have to agree. Harrahs used to be the place. I would never stay anywhere else. They have really let it go. In fact, the whole strip there is really turning into Primm on the river :(

As raggity ass and shopworn as the Riverside is,, and as chokeing with thick smoke the Riverside is,, and as in pain all the Riverside employees seem to be, and damn ya can only feel sorry for them,, it has plenty to do.
Several bars with dancing and entertainment, some sort of car club or guild seems to be holding a cool show or event,, Ya can find reasonable gambling,, the Prime Rib room is casual and pretty good for the money, ya can always park the boat, lively crowd but they need to quit catering to the Az grey hairs,, the buffet ok,,, cheap drinks,, not bad really,, but dam it's dingy and in pain.
We used to prefer Harrahas, but like someone earlier mentioned, pricy and lousy gaming. Boat parking may or may not be available. Usually not, and they charge ya extra if it is.
Harrahs will close a Blackjack table if the customers are winning. Had it happen a lot.
So, since most of Laughlin is pretty dingie:
Cheap drinks, fair quality & price food, plenty to do,, The Riverside.

What happens is Harrahs over books the place because people cancel last minute and they don't want to lose money, So by the time you get there on a Friday night there's a good chance your room has been given to someone else. Also, I call on my way out there to let them know I'll be checking in late, it doesn't help.. You've been lucky..

This is what pushed us away from the Flamingo. I couldn't believe it the first time they said it. I've stayed in most of the others, but think I will try the G. Nugget & Edgewater, next. Ramada's good when we have the kids. The kids also have liked going to the Kid's Castle in the Riverside, when the adults wanted a few hours of adult time.
