I'd like to see pics of outboard lo-water pickups installed on your motor.
I have an inflatable that I might want to raise my motor, but need to see
what you guys are refering to.
thanks,

Low water pick ups are installed on the bottom of the hull and run to the motor....
Good luck

I'm beginning to get it now.... I had wondered how/what you would "add" on the lower unit to get water to the pickup for the pump......
and the only thing I thought could be done was a thru-hull pickup like is
in my inboard........
but I'm still not sure what is the added/changed part
on the outboard.....
is the hose-routed thru some special bypass to the lower unit water pump?
does the regular water input port still funciton normally?
hopefully someone can post a pic (if it even shows this stuff)
or, is there a website I could look for this stuff?
thanks guys,

if you have a normal (side of the gear case pick-up) they make a a nose cone that has a low water pickup. bobs machine has a bunch you might check there web page

Here are some pics of my external pick-ups. I think this is what you are asking for??? The run from the bottom of the hull as you can see, and they have a check valve that opens at speed so that the low water P/U on the lower unit still works at lower speeds.

That is an external or hull mounted pickup. 99% of the small tunnel boats run low water pickups in the bottom of the nose cone. Bob's Machine Shop out of Florida does the best job in my opinion of adding an aftermarket nosecone / LWP. I don't have any pictures of mine readily available.

The 2.5's and 300's come with LWP's that's why I was not sure if he was asking for picks of externals's or not...

thank you for the replies guys, and especially the pics. I looked into Bob's
Machine website........ looks like the way to go for me. I gotta call them
on monday for a quote..........
this engine/boat is already supposed to run 70mph, add a nose cone, and
a jack plate, maybe tweak the prop a little bit more, and who knows.......
and for the naysayers about only* 70, this is a manual tiller; 13 foot inflatable.

I have a bobs low water pickup on my 225 and it works awesome very strong and very good lots of holes and it sits underneath the nose cone.
